Under the Radar Texas 2024 Prospects April 2023

One of my favorite articles to work on is the one where I focus on under the radar prospects for each class each month. The opportunity is given for us to take a look at some prospects that may not be in the spotlight as much. In this article, we are going to focus on the class of 2024 and shine the spotlight on a few prospects from this class.   [player_tooltip player_id='413199' first='Mitch' last='Melton']-Linebacker-Conroe-6'2” 220-Pounds   Over the past few years, the Conroe linebacker has displayed impressive versatility. However, he is a linebacker that does a great job of reading the play. Melton is able to make plays all over the field and lives in the offensive backfield. I look for Melton to have a strong season in 2023. He is a linebacker to watch out for over the next few months. He gives Conroe a defender that can make plays all over the field.   [player_tooltip player_id='615839' first='Keyshawn' last='Walls']-Running Back-Hooks-6'0” 215-Pounds   [player_tooltip player_id='615839' first='Keyshawn' last='Walls'] is an impressive running back that does well running between the tackles. He is the type of back that will not be brought on initial contact. Meanwhile, he has the speed to cut the run to the outside and take off down the sideline. Walls is a dangerous receiver out of the backfield. The ability he has in the open field is going to cause plenty of headaches for opposing defenses this upcoming season. Walls is a player to watch out for in the 2024 class.   [player_tooltip player_id='501076' first='Justice' last='Trumpler']-Offensive Line-Bowie-6'2” 290-Pounds   [player_tooltip player_id='501076' first='Justice' last='Trumpler'] is an offensive tackle that plays with a chip on his shoulder. Trumpler looks to finish every block and he can punish opposing pass rushers with his mix of power and speed. From a run blocking perspective, Trumpler does a great job clearing a rushing lane for his teammates. Last season, he earned honorable mention all-conference honors, and I would expect an even better season in 2023 from the Bowie tackle.   [player_tooltip player_id='628683' first='Rickey' last='Evans']-Wide Receiver-South Oak Cliff-5'9” 170-Pounds   The South Oak Cliff wide receiver is a prospect with the speed to take it deep from anywhere on the field. Evans is a fluid route runner and has the ability to stretch the field. Evans is a nightmare to bring down in the open field. He does a great job of working his way back for his quarterbacks and he is a major weapon in the passing game for South Oak Cliff. I came away very impressed with his hands and he has the potential to have a strong season in 2023.   [player_tooltip player_id='616357' first='Wyatt' last='Duffy']-Linebacker-Southlake Carroll-5'11” 200-Pounds   Versatility is the name of the game for the talented Southlake Carroll linebacker. Duffy does an impressive job of defeating blocks and getting into the opposing offensive backfield. Meanwhile, he has the talent to drop back into pass coverage. Duffy has a high motor and will not quit on a play. The ability to get into the backfield will cause plenty of problems this season for opposing offensive coordinators. He is a player to keep an eye on this season.
