Prep Redzone Kansas has released an updated rankings list for players in the class of 2026. Here is a report on three players who have been putting in solid work during the offseason, which is the primary reason for their movement in the rankings.
All three of these players increased their spot in the ranking by at least eight slots and should see an increase in varsity time on the gridiron in 2023.
Christopher Wash Christopher Wash 6'2" | 215 lbs | DL Mill Valley | 2026 State KS , DL, 6’2”, 215, Mill Valley
Wash is ranked No. 6 overall and is the second-highest-ranked defensive lineman in the class. He jumped eight spots in the newly released rankings. Wash is a strong and quick defensive lineman who spent his offseason wrestling and gaining exposure during ESPN Under Armor Showcases. Like most football players who also wrestle, Wash has solid balance and quick hands. He can run past offensive linemen or run them over.
Ja’Marcus Vornes Ja’Marcus Vornes 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR Junction City | 2026 State KS , WR, 5’11”, 150, Junction City
Vornes was the biggest mover in the newly released rankings. The Junction City speedster moved up 11 spots in the rankings and is now ranked No. 11 overall. Vornes is the second-highest-ranked wide receiver. Vornes had an impressive 7-on-7 season. Vornes is also a track star who will be running for the Blue Jays during the current track season. He is a playmaker on special teams and should play a more significant role in Junction City’s offense as he heads into his sophomore season.
Jarek Purdy Jarek Purdy 6'1" | 170 lbs | ATH Hays | 2026 State KS , ATH, 6’0”, 150, Hays
Purdy is ranked No. 15 and improved his stock by eight spots. The Hays Indian is a quick football player who can play multiple positions. He has had a stellar 7-on-7 season with the Kansas Elite. Purdy has a knack for finding the end zone and is a solid route runner. He will be a player to watch in Western Kansas for years to come. The question is at what position, wideout, running back, defensive back, heck maybe even quarterback?
