Multiple teams debuted new quarterbacks. Rising sophomore Noah Carroll (2026) is the frontrunner to become Cibola's new starting quarterback and he took the vast majority of the snaps for the Cibola 1 team on Sunday. Carroll has the challenging task of succeeding four-year starter [player_tooltip player_id='137861' first='Aden' last='Chavez'], who threw for over 7,100 yards and 67 TD. during his prolific career.

For Albuquerque Academy, rising sophomore Gage Conway (2026), younger brother of former Chargers RB and Trinity University signee [player_tooltip player_id='138056' first='Cole' last='Conway'], took snaps with the first-team offense and he's a solid contender for the starting job.

Among established quarterbacks, 2025 West Las Vegas QB C.J. Perea already looks in mid-season form. He was rifling throws all over the field to his array of receivers. With Perea sparking the offense, expectations are high the Dons could emerge as contenders for the Class 3A title even though they compete in arguably the strongest district in 3A.

New Mexico Legacy QB Kelly Stevens continued his solid winter/spring campaign by throwing the ball well and he looks ready to compete for the starting QB job at Las Cruces. That highly anticipated Bulldawgs battle will be one of the top storylines heading into the 2023 season.
