Continue ReadingOrlando, Florida played host to kick off the Pylon7on7 Training Camp Series which will feature 16 other locations around the country. The Pylon camp series consisted of skills and training competition drills led by knowledgeable coaches as well as tracking accurate and real-time data for scouts and college coaches in categories such as top-end speed, force output, and movement.
Many of the recruits that attended Saturday’s event are true rising prospects that deserve proper recognition. Prep Redzone scout Drew Johnson will be listing the top standouts that performed consistently well throughout the camp. This list will include some of the notable quarterbacks who were led by well-known BTruQBTraining quarterback coach Baylin Trujillo and state champion Cocoa High’s Offensive Coordinator Adam Franco. As always, Prep Redzone Florida aims to shine a light on ALL student-athletes attempting to play at the next level. There will be more articles to follow this list of standouts but let’s get into it!
The potential upside on Miller is ridiculous when breaking down his overall build and ability to spin the ball on the gridiron. He has a really compact frame with a jacked upper and lower body that he uses to zip passes around the field, good enough to eahe CO-MVP trophy on Saturday. Miller showed off good arm strength and hip rotation when almost winning the accuracy challenge which consisted of hitting the field goal post from about 40 feet out. He also threw the ball for about 70 yards during the distance competition. The rising freshman standout will be at Riverview Sarasota this season with a chance to really build some excitement around his recruitment.
Highlights
Pickles flashed his fluid release and good footwork movement when going through various drills with both quarterback coaches. He threw the ball well today and earned the other CO-MVP trophy after showing off great accuracy and timing during the 1v1 period. The North Florida Christian product recorded outstanding numbers in his sophomore season, passing for 3382 yards for 39 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also led the team in rushing yards with 94 carries for 620 yards and 9 touchdowns. Pickles is a prime example of a hidden gem that has been overlooked or underrecruited. He surely has the fundamentals and upside to produce at the next level and I expect his recruitment to take off before the fall season.
This wasn’t my first time watching Cromartie look cool, calm, and on point as Saturday was another great output. Cromartie continues to impress and develop while displaying a smooth and fluid throwing motion and excellent accuracy. The Viera standout won the accuracy contest after hitting the field goal post about 3-4 times. He impressed during the individual drill period but really showed off his touch during the 1v1 action. The sophomore product threw for 676 yards with 5 total touchdowns.
Highlights
Coleman looked really good on Saturday while showing off a nice spin on the ball with great footwork mechanics. He nearly always took initiative to go first in each drill, flashing a creative release and the ability to complete passes from various angles. Coleman had really good ball placement during the 1v1 session combined with quality arm strength and timing. The freshman riser will be at Jones High this fall season with high expectations. Look out for Coleman as well to be a top name in the state at the quarterback position with recent offers from Ole Miss, Virginia Tech and Marshall.
Davison is another 2026 rising quarterback with plenty of upside and time to develop what it takes to be a playmaker at the next level. Davison impressed with solid accuracy and footwork in the mobile passing drills. He threw for 580 yards with 5 passing touchdowns during his freshman season. The dual threat also added 459 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns as a running threat in Apopka’s offensive scheme. Really like Davison’s game and potential and will be someone to keep an eye on in the area.
Highlights
Ty’ray Davis
Ty’ray Davis
Davis resembled a baby Cam Newton because of his stocky build but deceptive accuracy and body control. Was really impressed with how Davis threw the ball throughout the entire camp which landed his name on the standout list. Davis recorded 1410 passing yards for 7 touchdowns last season. The mobile junior added 482 rushing yards and 6 touchdowns for Wekiva. Look for the Mustangs to really utilize his arm capabilities combined with his ability to be a running threat for opposing defenses.
Joaquin Kavouklis
Joaquin Kavouklis
Kavouklis is just a freshman but has plenty of upside and good size to develop into a true threat for opposing defenses. He flashed really good footwork mechanics and a fluid release at the Pylon Camp Series on Saturday. His ability to fit the ball in tight spaces in the short and deep ball game during the 1v1 period was deadly. Look out for the rising prospect to shake things up and make some noise this season with new but familiar weapons this fall season. Kavouklis and sophomore wide receiver Makih Johnson have a special connection that everyone will find out about soon.
