YORK | The Palmetto Combine North underclassmen event at York Comprehensive provided another opportunity for freshmen and sophomore to make a name for themselves.

Shining among the defensive players included in the 103 overall in attendance was Chapin's [player_tooltip player_id='1255998' first='Anthony' last='Turnbow']. The rising junior won the Top Defensive Skill award for his play at defensive back.

Turnbow showed good coverage skills in anticipating the football. He came away with an interception during a one-on-one battle, then forced two uncatchable passes.

Winning the top Defensive Lineman award was South Pointe defensive tackle Miles Wilson. The 6'1, 270-pound Wilson was among a group of aggressive defensive players who showed toughness even against bigger offensive linemen and speed in the individual drills.

Wilson was also one of seven players who earned a Golden Ticket to the Joanne Langfitt Junior Showcase. The event is held the Friday before the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl at Doug Shaw Stadium in Myrtle Beach and gives the selected players another opportunity through skills challenges to measure themselves among their peers and college scouts.

Joining Wilson is White Knoll defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='1025815' first='Caleb' last='Geronomi']. He, along with teammate and Combine MVP quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='346199' first='Landon' last='Sharpe'], were picked as he displayed solid coverage skills in the secondary and graded well in the combine events.
