NORTH DAKOTA-- Finally, we are on the books with the updated 2025 rankings in the Roughrider State! It took several days and several hours a day with the evaluation process, but we feel we have the best 100+ prospects North Dakota has to offer and 80 of those prospects hit our rankings along with 50+ on our watch list of prospects that need updated tape or more tape to show off their next-level talents.

Reminder of the PRZ Prospect Evaluation Process:

Our #1 priority and goal with Prep Redzone is to put prospects on the map for college coaches and programs at all levels to advance their exposure. We rate prospects on next-level potential not stats, not on the team's rankings in the state, it's all about the prospects potential and how his skillsets fit at the next level. Some prospects will peak early in their high school career and that's why our rankings change 3-4 times per year at Prep Redzone Dakotas, because we also love to factor in several live evaluations year-around and we have seen prospects within a 3 month span add 30 pounds of muscle and height, while others stay the same. That is our process with every rankings update for those of you that are new to us!

Which High School Dominated the 2025 Rankings?

Bismarck Legacy (14)

Their best rivals from Bismarck Century might have been the 2022 championship last year, but the Sabres are the deepest prospect list in this 2025 class with 14 prospects listed between the rankings and watchlist. [player_tooltip player_id='356839' first='Kalen' last='Lucas'] was one of the first Sabres WRs to stand out to me. He might be only 5'8 but this kid on tape plays way bigger than his measurables and has some of the best hands in this North Dakota 2025 class in my eyes. Checking in at #32 overall is [player_tooltip player_id='356831' first='Kodee' last='Peterson'], who at 6'2 300 pounds has some raw skillsets, however the tape shows off a long wingspan that sits well with his leverage while drive-blocking and shows off an athletic stance-the biggest developments are in his footwork, balance and finishing ability. [player_tooltip player_id='356833' first='Boston' last='Bischke'] carries the load for the Sabres at running back and is listed at #41 overall. Boston has sizable physicality as a blocker, and his patience, good vision and durability will set the Sabres up for success in 2023. The biggest upside prospect from the Sabres is defensive back [player_tooltip player_id='356837' first='Carter' last='Zins']. I don't have the measurables yet on Carter, but the strides he makes from a range perspective show off some good athletic traits to the ball. He also has a hit-sticking ability that consistently drives back the ball carrier.

Velva-Garrison-Drake Anamoose (7)

Velva-Garrison-Drake-Anamoose won the 11B State Championship in 2022, and they are certainly more than back for in 2023 with an absolutely stacked 2025 class. The Aggies have five prospects ranked within our first 25 prospects on our 2025 board. It starts off with 6'1 215 pound linebacker [player_tooltip player_id='725780' first='Hank' last='Bodine'] who is the #1 linebacker in North Dakota and ranked #5 overall. The little brother of North Dakota signee Payton Bodine, is the most physical linebackers in the class with his aggressive knock-back tackling ability that shows a huge plethora of strength in his skillsets. The Aggies also have the #1 WR in 2025 in North Dakota in 6'0 185 pound [player_tooltip player_id='725781' first='Reggie' last='Bruner']. Reggie in my eyes, has the best hands I saw while evaluating this 2025 class, and he makes the high-traffic catches on tape with excellent athleticism and balance. They also have our WR2 in [player_tooltip player_id='725782' first='Treyson' last='Iglehart'], who popped out on tape with a handful of versatility with his skillsets and also is utilized as a slot-back coming back into the backfield. Coming in as the QB4 in the 2025 class and returning to the Aggies for two more seasons yet is [player_tooltip player_id='210459' first='Benjamin' last='Schepp']. Schepp is a name you might recognize from our weekly Big Dogs of the Week series during the season, as this kid has an impressive touch ball and has the arm talent to throw on all three levels with ease. Rounding out the Aggies in the top 25 overall is [player_tooltip player_id='725783' first='Bradyn' last='Bossert']. Bradyn is a running back that mixes his durability and fluidity together for blue-collar back that is a productive North-South runner thru contact and shows off developing agility between the tackles. The last two last names from the Aggies are ones that any NDSU Bison fan will certainly know as we added [player_tooltip player_id='725787' first='Kyle' last='Volson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='725788' first='Zack' last='Volson']. These two do not have any tape yet available and when they do, they certainly will move from watch list prospects to the 2025 rankings because I certainly believe having family that plays for the Cincinnati Bengals helps their case from a potential standpoint to say the least.

One School to Watch in 2023 from a Prospect Perspective:

West Fargo Horace

Although the Horace Hawks struggled in their first year of varsity action in 2022, I am certainly intrigued with their 2025 class. My two favorite Hawks are brothers [player_tooltip player_id='802391' first='Mason' last='Johnson'] and [player_tooltip player_id='802389' first='Blake' last='Johnson'] both at linebacker. These two have great play recognition skillsets, and I like how smooth their tape shows off with how their strong motors clashes into the ball carrier from with a solid base of physicality and reach in crunch-time situations. Their 6'5 QB1 [player_tooltip player_id='802390' first='Taylor' last='Stefonowicz'] is also a QB prospect with a high ceiling. You wouldn't think by rolling Taylor's sophomore tape that a 6'5 quarterback would be that mobile outside of the pocket, but he certainly is. Taylor is another North Dakota quarterback prospect that enlightens me with his touch-ball on deep and intermediate routes. He has some developing to brew as far as his ball placement and balance, however if this young man can fill out his frame and grow those two skillsets I mentioned, I certainly believe he has the potential to play on Saturdays as a developmental quarterback prospect.
