Each year, several prospects come out of nowhere and burst onto the recruiting scene with breakout seasons. Oftentimes, some of those players are names that you may have never heard of. Here, we stay a few steps ahead and find some of those guys before everyone else.

[player_tooltip player_id='1637218' first='Albert' last='McCoy'] - RB - 2025 - South Paulding

New South Paulding head coach Maurice Allen will have the daunting task of replacing 2000-yard rusher and Kentucky signee [player_tooltip player_id='321265' first='Jamarion' last='Wilcox']. While it certainly won't be easy, [player_tooltip player_id='1637218' first='Albert' last='McCoy'] looks like the heir to Wilcox. McCoy played sparingly on varsity during his sophomore season, but he looks the part of an RB that can hold his own with a lot of carries. McCoy shows good vision and patience as a runner, waiting for blocks to set up and piecing his way through openings upfront. Doesn't waste any time getting upfield and is not afraid to lower his shoulder and pick up some extra yards. As McCoy takes the next step physically and develops the confidence to run behind his pads, he has a chance to be a real contributor this fall for South Paulding. He already has the vision and elusiveness part down.

[player_tooltip player_id='212310' first='Ty' last='Truelove'] - QB - 2026 - Rabun County

Truelove spent his freshman season backing up [player_tooltip player_id='400143' first='Keegan' last='Stover'], one of the most productive QBs in the state. With a year of valuable experience under his belt, he is set to take over the QB spot for Rabun County. Truelove looks like he has a good feel for the field and is a good decision-maker. Stands tall in pocket and keeps his eyes downfield as he waits for routes and protection to develop. Truelove has decent arm strength that will continue to get better. He is also twitchy enough to avoid pressure in the pocket and scamper for decent yardage. As of now, he has more than enough physical tools to hold his own at the varsity level. Not to mention, Rabun County QBs have been productive in recent history. Take Gunner Stockton and [player_tooltip player_id='400143' first='Keegan' last='Stover'] as examples.

Shane Throgmartin - QB - 2025 - Mill Creek

Throgmartin played sparingly on varsity last year for the state-champion Mill Creek squad. In his 30 passes on varsity last year, he looked like the clear guy for Mill Creek in 2023 and beyond. Throgmartin gets into his drop quickly with a backpedal and quickly resets his feet before firing downfield. As far as arm strength is concerned, Throgmartin is in the upper tier when it comes to evaluating QBs in the state. He can get the ball over the safeties as well as fire the ball into tight windows over the middle of the field. It's not just his arm strength as he also has a lighting fast 3/4ths delivery. Mill Creek has a QB prospect that can really drive the ball down the field. Once he starts contributing, his college interest should skyrocket.

Khristian Lando - ATH - 2024 - Cartersville

Explosive two-way prospects that should see his production at RB rise this fall. With his combination of size and speed, Lando checks a lot of physical boxes. At RB, he has excellent vision and can dissect running lanes before they even open up. His ability to create his own yards by making defenders miss with his elusiveness or by plowing over defenders makes him a candidate to be an every-down back. He is not afraid to take on contact. In fact, at times it looks like seeks out contact. Lando is under the radar as a prospect, but I believe he has FBS-level tools and will show why once fall rolls around.
