It's been a busy offseason here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. In addition to the now-P5 2025 recruits like [player_tooltip player_id='234833' first='Meyer' last='Swinney'], [player_tooltip player_id='362273' first='Emmanuel' last='Karmo'], and [player_tooltip player_id='552396' first='Abu' last='Tarawallie'], Minnesota's class of 2024 has seen some major moves on the recruiting front and the scholarship prospects are beginning to reveal themselves. The rising senior class, which is stacked with defensive lineman and skill players, especially at the top end, has seen a plethora of offers come their way as junior day visits continue to progress and we near closer & closer to the always-important summer camp grind. With time winding down in the spring of 2023, PRzMN wanted to break things down and highlight the some of the standouts to earn D1 and DII offers so far this winter/spring. DIIs are also starting to establish their boards, and with the introduction of the early signing day period, there's going to be a ton of movement and news coming out of the MN recruiting front once summer rolls around, so now is the time for a brief recap of the offseason offers that gave gone out thus far. Congrats on the hard work paying off, boys! Well deserved.

--

[player_tooltip player_id='105378' first='Simon' last='Seidl'] (Hill-Murray) DB. 6', 170 lbs.

Arguably the biggest winner of this offseason, Hill-Murray defensive back and standout hockey player and sprinter [player_tooltip player_id='105378' first='Simon' last='Seidl'] exploded onto the recruiting scene and saw his stock rise like Gamestop during the r/wallstreetbets craze in 2021. However, unlike the Gamestop stock, Seidl's was here to stay, and he saw his athletic profile and impressive junior film pay off on February 1st when the Wyoming Cowboys offered his first college offer in the form of a FBS scholarship. The hometown Gophers really started to take notice, and with a couple top-end DBs in the 2024 class to choose from, Minnesota liked the speed, multi-sport background, versatility, and natural athleticism so much that they got him on campus on March 2nd and wasted little time in reaching out with an offer. I shouldn't have to explain how big of a deal this is for an in-state kid, and what makes it even sweeter is how fast he seemingly rose on the Gophers recruiting board and how much they like his game. Seidl then committed to Minnesota a couple days later, and I am STOKED to see this dude in Dinkytown once he graduates. I love watching him play hockey, but if you see the football tape it's easy to see why the gridiron is bound to be his future home. Speed on both sides of the ball, range as a DB, playmaking ball skills, and no problems in the physicality department combine to manufacture yet another B1G DB out of the Land of 10,000 Lakes. Row the Boat, Simon!

[player_tooltip player_id='704467' first='Kene' last='Anene'] (East Ridge) OL. 6'5, 265 lbs.

The younger brother of NDSU defensive end Toby Anene, younger bro Kene is quickly becoming one of the most popular recruits in Minnesota's 2024 class. Just like his older brother, Anene is an East Ridge Raptor standout, and he saw his recruitment kick off back in mid-February as the Northern Iowa Panthers made a smart move and became his first college offer after their junior day invite in Cedar Falls. A flurry of offers followed it up, with Colorado State, South Dakota, North Dakota State, Army-West Point, North Dakota, and Fordham all reaching out, and given the fact that their is blood playing in Fargo, ND, you have to watch the Bison closely in this recruitment. Minnesota, Iowa State, and St. Thomas are all in contact as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='368527' first='Wyatt' last='Osterbauer'] (Buffalo) LB. 6'4, 225 lbs.

It's good to see another D1er come out of the halls of Buffalo High School, and at 6'4, 225 lbs. [player_tooltip player_id='368527' first='Wyatt' last='Osterbauer'] is a massive defensive presence who I would love to see play linebacker at the next level. After a busy fall full of FBS and FCS visits, Osterbauer saw his hard work really begin to pay off in early March as South Dakota offered a FCS scholarship out of the Missouri Valley Conference. Following the good news, Iowa State and Minnesota sent out spring ball invites, Northern Iowa sent a junior day invite, and the rising senior visited Laramie and the Wyoming Cowboys program. Can't wait to see who offers next!

[player_tooltip player_id='241912' first='Isaac' last='Davis'] (Park Center) DB. 5'11, 185 lbs.

A PrepRedzoneMN Showcase standout who had an excellent, lockdown performance in the 1-on-1 portion of December's Stock-Up Showcase, Park Center's [player_tooltip player_id='241912' first='Isaac' last='Davis'] is yet another Pirate skill player and defensive back to enter the ranks of D1 prospects when he received a FCS scholarship offer from South Dakota on March 4th. He's also visited St. Thomas and South Dakota State this spring and has been contacted by a host of college programs at the FBS, FCS, and DII levels and should be a fun to watch in the upcoming summer camp circuit as his coverage skills are natural, physical, and sticky, and nothing beats a strong performance in an in-person, competitive setting.

[player_tooltip player_id='120503' first='Aiden' last='Horel'] (Prior Lake) OL. 6'4, 315 lbs.

Prior Lake continues its fantastic trend of high-profile and high-quality prospects as of late in the 2024 class, and following in the footsteps of current Golden Gophers OT [player_tooltip player_id='112105' first='Greg' last='Johnson'] - who 24/7Sports Ryan Burns reports is getting rave reviews in spring camp - is 6'4, 315 lber. [player_tooltip player_id='120503' first='Aiden' last='Horel']. The 2022 All-District selection was another recipient of the South Dakota 'Yotes burst of spring offers last month and earned his first college football offer on March 4th. Since then, he visited Fargo for an NDSU junior day, checked out Dinkytown with the Golden Gophers (also for a junior day), and earned a heavyweight DII offer from MSU-Mankato. With [player_tooltip player_id='368529' first='Jide' last='Abasiri'] recently committing to the Golden Gophers, Prior Lake is and has been a must-stop for college programs recruiting the trenches. Let's see how high Mr. Horel can take this thing.

[player_tooltip player_id='242417' first='Trent' last='Page'] (SMB) DL. 6'4, 265 lbs.

The SMB Wolfpack have had some illustrious DL and pass rushing combinations in their short eight year history, and I would love to hear where our subscribers think their current defensive line stacks up with some of their talented predecessors. Coming into the fall, the Wolfpack will be led by one of the more popular recruits in the 2024 class in DE [player_tooltip player_id='242417' first='Trent' last='Page']. At 6'4, 245 lbs. and a ton of varsity experience, Page has received offers from Brown, North Dakota State, Navy, Northern Illinois, Army, Air Force, Bowling Green State, Northern Iowa, and Central Michigan, all dating back to only the end of January. Page has also visited Minnesota and Iowa on unofficial visits and will head to Kansas and Iowa State as well. Check out his teammate and fellow QB nightmare below!

[player_tooltip player_id='441518' first='Dane' last='Borene'] (SMB) DL. 6'6, 250 lbs.

Edina native and The Blake School product [player_tooltip player_id='441518' first='Dane' last='Borene'] was one of the first to see recruitment take off and receive D1 offers, as well as one of the first - maybe the first - to shut things down and commit. The massive SMB defensive end shot up and onto recruiting boards during the fall as his strong junior tape begin to make the rounds week-to-week, and after a boatload of in-school visits from the likes of KState, Wisco, Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota State, schools begin to reach out with scholarships. Led by Central Michigan in late January, right before his DE partner [player_tooltip player_id='242417' first='Trent' last='Page'], and Princeton, UPenn, and Air Force followed shortly after before he surprisingly shut down his recruitment and committed to the Princeton Tigers on February 21st. I highlight doubt Borene's recruitment was over with, but you'll see high-academic guys take their opportunity when it comes, and with the Ivy League's consistent quality in play and the DE position always remaining at a premium, I wouldn't be surprised if some high rollers came back into his recruitment later and try to woo him away from the Tigers. I wouldn't want to be a QB against the Wolfpack next season!

[player_tooltip player_id='105369' first='Sam' last='Macy'] (Chanhassen) OLB. 6'5, 215 lbs.

As a 6'5 OLB with ample varsity experience and a hard-hitting playstyle, we knew Macy was bound to be a popular recruit when his time came and this spring has been solid for the Chanhassen standout. He's earned the trifecta of military academy offers with Army, Navy, and Air Force all offering up, and he's also visited NDSU, UNI, South Dakota, South Dakota State, St. Thomas, NIU, and North Dakota in what has been a busy spring full of road trips through America's Heartland. The likes of Northwestern, Central Michigan, Minnesota, NIU, and UND also stopped by Chan to meet with Mr. Macy this winter as well. It's going to be a big summer for the rising senior thumper.

[player_tooltip player_id='242491' first='Greg' last='Meidl'] (Mankato West) OL. 6'4, 260 lbs.

The Mankato West Scarlet's offensive line is going to be deadly next fall and will be spearheaded by [player_tooltip player_id='242491' first='Greg' last='Meidl'], a 6'4, 260 lb. mauler who is going to be hungry to avenge his team's loss in the 2022 5A state final to Elk River. You couldn't pay me to be one of the kids he takes his anger out on, and college coaches and recruiters are also liking what they see. Army-West Point kicked things off on March 1st with a military academy offer, and Sioux Falls and MSU-Mankato stuck their heads in the mix with NSIC scholarship offers. I have a feeling Meidl is going to have a diverse offer sheet by the time he shuts things down, and to reinforce my point the interior offensive lineman has received a ton of NDSU recruiting graphics, as well as from South Dakota State, Western Illinois, Valpo, and Bemidji State. He moved up triple-digit spots in our recent rankings updates and deserves every bit of recognition he gets.

[player_tooltip player_id='242416' first='Max' last='Mogelson'] (Two Rivers) DL. 6'3, 260 lbs.

A former freshman phenom, now Two Rivers junior defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='242416' first='Max' last='Mogelson'] possesses some of my favorite junior tape of the entire class and is a violent and athletic presence along the Warriors defensive front and laid some massive hits on ball carriers during the fall of 2022. It was a heckuva bounceback season for Mogelson, who missed a ton of games as a sophomore after an unfortunate injury, so this was just what the doctor ordered in terms of getting back on a big-time recruiting track. Not that anybody really doubted him, as he made some waves and popped off some quality reps in summer camp competition, but it's still awesome to see an athlete retain their form and Mogelson is a part of a loaded top-end crew of defensive lineman in the 2024 class. The Wyoming Cowboys kicked things off in the middle of February with a Mountain West offer, and after that Northern Illinois, Colorado State, UNLV, Miami (OH), and Ohio University all followed suit. It also sounds like the Golden Gophers are keeping tabs on the rising senior, and from what I've heard from Ryan Burns over at GopherIllustrated, he'll be a must-watch guy during the upcoming Gophers Prospect Camp and could earn his first P5 offer then. Until then, more schools need to get involved.

[player_tooltip player_id='551395' first='Mo' last='Saine'] (Eden Prairie) DL. 6'5, 275 lbs.

A massive and no-brainer P5 prospect out of 6A heavyweight competitor and recruiting ground Eden Prairie, 6'5, 275 lb. iDL [player_tooltip player_id='551395' first='Mo' last='Saine'] has a massive wingspan and knows how to use it, and he's a brickwall and total monster when holding a gap, defeating blocks, and making plays behind the LOS. There's just too much working for him to not be a P5 defensive lineman, especially with how coveted 3Ts and NGs can get, and Saine has received offers from Army, Arizona State, Kansas, KState, and Iowa State, with that Cyclones coming early in September when we saw the initial wave of MN stock risers enter the ranks of P5 recruiting. I also really like that Arizona State offer. Although he's not the only MN 2024 to hold a PAC12 offer, we really don't see that conference head to the Land of 10,000 Lakes very often, and it's not ever a bad thing to get recruited outside of your local footprint. Metro offensive lineman are going to have their hands full with Saine in 2023.

[player_tooltip player_id='615328' first='Brycen' last='Lotz'] (Braham) OL. 6'5, 260 lbs.

One of the biggest winners from this offseason inarguably goes to Braham's [player_tooltip player_id='615328' first='Brycen' last='Lotz']. We're seeing a trend of college offensive line recruitment gravitate to lighter guys with the frame to add a ton of good weight in college while a legit college S&C coach can get his hands on the prospect and make sure they retain their athleticism and movement skills. It's generally easier to add weight than lose it when talking giant offensive lineman, and Lotz is a representative of this new trend, as he's a lighter guy with an great frame and a ton of mobility that college OL coaches and S&C programs can really polish and develop into a monster. The defending FCS national champs South Dakota State made a strong evaluation and jumped on the Lotz train first, offering a scholarship after their junior day in the middle of February, and South Dakota, North Dakota State, Wyoming, and Northern Illinois have followed suit, leading to some big-time offers that generally recruit the state really well. PRzMN is really excited to see how the Braham product and his recruitment continues to evolve.

[player_tooltip player_id='105392' first='Zashon' last='Rich'] (MPLS North) ATH. 6'2, 180 lbs.

I'm pretty surprised that Minneapolis North's [player_tooltip player_id='105392' first='Zashon' last='Rich'] only has one offer at this point in time. Size, unverified but visible speed, versatility, good film, and a ton of experience and success at the varsity level are all a part of his recruiting resume, but only the Wyoming Cowboys have offered up as of right now. I'm not taking away from that offer from the 'Pokes though, as they have historically evaluated and developed MN talent very well and it would be an awesome landing spot for Rich, but it's always redeeming and defensible to have options, and I don't see why Rich shouldn't have an offer list similar to some of his peers in the 2024 class. Luckily, we still have time. Make sure you keep an eye out for this kid moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='704466' first='Adam' last='Molitor'] (Totino-Grace) TE. 6'7, 215 lbs.

A standout football and baseball player for Fridley's Totino-Grace High School, 6'7 tight end [player_tooltip player_id='704466' first='Adam' last='Molitor'] was an exciting and high-ranking addition to the latest rankings update and brings some impressive balance, YAC ability, and an eye-popping frame to the table as a prospect. He's also has a multi-sport background, comes out of a high school that has produced some big-time talent, and carries a 3.87 GPA, and has been rewarded with a first scholarship offer out of the heavyweight Missouri Valley and the University of Northern Iowa. Molitor has also visited South Dakota State and North Dakota State for their recent junior days, as well as the Golden Gophers, and rocks the #48 jersey of those three programs very well if you ask me. With his offensive proficiency and ability to impact the passing game at his considerable size, and with a ton more room to grow, I'm sure more programs will be entering the mix soon for our current TE1 in the 2024 rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='706049' first='Antonio' last='Menard'] (Lakeville North) EDGE. 6'3, 215 lbs.

PRzMN has been all over and singing the praises of Lakeville North DE/EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='706049' first='Antonio' last='Menard'] the past few months, and for good reason. A legacy pass rusher whose older brother was one of the best to ever do it in a Panthers and eventually NDSU Bison jersey, and the younger Menard is showing a ton of the same mettle as his older brother. Also a stud wrestler who finished 4th in this past season's 220AAA bracket, Menard's impact off the edge and pass rushing skills has made him a popular football who has seen the likes of Fordham, North Dakota, Air Force, Army, South Dakota State, Yale, North Dakota State, Northern Iowa, and Wyoming all offer scholarships during the always-important junior offseason. It's been a good one so far for Antonio, and as I've mentioned in some previous articles for PRzMN, it doesn't take Sherlock Holmes to think that the Bison are a major player here and a definite team to watch in his recruitment.

[player_tooltip player_id='105374' first='Maxwell' last='Woods'] (Chanhassen) RB. 5'11, 180 lbs.

Of all the position groups in the official 2024 PRzMN rankings update, I was keeping a very keen eye on the RBs and how their recruitments were bound to develop, especially at the top end. There are a ton of electric RBs poised to be seniors this fall, and leading the pack is Chanhassen's [player_tooltip player_id='105374' first='Maxwell' last='Woods'], who has seen a late (in comparison to some of the guys on this list) flurry of offers that begin with a DII powerhouse and just recently grown to a FCS bigwig four days ago. Also a good basketball player who hoops with MN Fury on the AAU circuit, Woods was a recipient of the MSU-Mankato wave of initial 2024 offers that went out near the last week of March, along with RB2 [player_tooltip player_id='105372' first='Savion' last='Hart'], and shortly after Air Force and Army joined the mix, and the North Dakota State Bison's staff followed it up at the end of the month. It's a favorable burst for a good kid who has a lot of people rooting for him, and also validation of his talents that he made him a must-know name in the 2024 class way back when they were freshman. This dude has a knack for making defenders miss. Woods has also visited the Gophers for their junior day in two weekends back, St. Thomas in February, and Northern Illinois in December.

[player_tooltip player_id='242410' first='Langden' last='College'] (Armstrong) DE. 6'4, 220 lbs.

Another D1 prospect out of the Armstrong Falcons, DE [player_tooltip player_id='242410' first='Langden' last='College'] is heavy into the Missouri Valley scene and saw his recruitment take off in early February when his visit to Cedar Falls resulted in an offer from the Northern Iowa Panthers. After that he went to St. Paul to check out UST, and then went back to Iowa to check out the Iowa State Cyclones for their junior day in early March. After that he was one of the chosen few to receive an invite to the Gophers junior day, and to stay busy, headed back down I35 to see a Cyclones spring practice in Ames. A second MVFC competitor got in the mix shortly after, as North Dakota became his second offer after College got a call from Head Coach Bubba Schweigert. It's not a great comparison, but I do see a bit of Elerson Smith (MPLS South/Northern Iowa/New York Giants) in his frame and skillset, maybe it's no coincidence that UNI was his first offer.

[player_tooltip player_id='242395' first='Tait' last='Anderberg'] (Lakeville North) OL. 6'6, 265 lbs.

One of the early names to know in Minnesota's 2024 OL class, [player_tooltip player_id='242395' first='Tait' last='Anderberg']'s name has been on the recruiting scene for a couple of years and saw the hard work pay off back in February when he joined some of his peers in receiving an offer from Northern Iowa in late February. In true Lakeville fashion, he visited the Wisconsin Badgers for a spring practice. More offers will be coming shortly for this young man. Strong, active feet, and good technique, more college programs will continue to check him out through the spring and summer. He's been a little more quiet on the visit front so I'm interested to see where he heads next.

[player_tooltip player_id='138248' first='Wyatt' last='Gilmore'] (Rogers) EDGE. 6'4, 250 lbs.

Our #1 prospect in Minnesota going into next fall, Rogers 6'4, 250 lb. EDGE [player_tooltip player_id='138248' first='Wyatt' last='Gilmore'] is currently the most popular prospect in the state, and in the last month alone he's visited Miami (FL), Oregon, Mizzou, Oklahoma, Iowa, Kansas, and Kansas State for unofficials. He holds offers from all seven, as well the home state Gophers, who he checked out in late January and is set to visit again here soon. He also was offered by Purdue, North Dakota State, North Dakota, Akron, Central Michigan, and Iowa State, who reached out all the way back in April of 2022. Verified athleticism, strong, productive, great film, and was devastating as a TE in 2022 just to sweeten the pot. Gilmore's recruitment has is still very much alive and well and I'm loving how busy he's been the past few months.

[player_tooltip player_id='704470' first='Seth' last='Newbern'] (Armstrong) WR. 6'1, 170 lbs.

The son of former Minnesota Golden Gopher and Detroit Piston Melvin Newbern, Robbinsdale Armstrong's [player_tooltip player_id='704470' first='Seth' last='Newbern'] has two brothers who played collegiate basketball but saw his own recruitment kick off with a gridiron offer from Northern Iowa's junior day in February. The Panthers weren't messing around with Minnesota prospects this cycle, and Newbern joined a talented crop of rising seniors to hear from UNI for that all-important first college football offer. After that he checked out the Gophers and North Dakota for unofficial visits. With limited film from last fall, Newbern is near the top of the list of potential breakout stars for this upcoming season.

[player_tooltip player_id='105391' first='Will' last='Sather'] (Eden Prairie) DL. 6'1, 270 lbs.

I love dual-sport standouts, and I especially love wrestling/football multi-sport studs, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that I've been a fan of Eden Prairie's interior lineman [player_tooltip player_id='105391' first='Will' last='Sather'] for a while now. A two-way contributor on the gridiron and 3A heavyweight wrestling state champ, Sather is fresh off his first D1 offer from prestigious Brown, who reached out with an Ivy League roster spot to start his week off. He also took an official wrestling visit to Harvard, and in the middle of March he was a part of the MSU-Mankato splurge of Midwest offers. EP has sent some excellent football players into the Ivy Leagues so this is a really fun start for Sather and his multi-sport recruitment. Stay tuned for an upcoming PRzMN feature highlighting the best of two-sporters in Minnesota going into the 2023-24 season.

Khijohnn Cummings-Coleman (Coon Rapids) WR. 5'11, 180 lbs.

It's been a heckuva junior year for Coon Rapids playmaking WR Khijohnn Cummings-Coleman, who saw his first P5 offer roll in from Iowa State all the way back in September and has since added Iowa, Minnesota, Kansas, Northern Illinois, Central Michigan, and Army to his list of entertaining college football opportunities. I haven't heard a ton behind the scenes of where KCC is leaning or liking, but if you follow the visits it's easy to see he's checked out Iowa City and the Hawkeyes enough to make them a player here, and additionally ON3 has him leaning towards Iowa State, so make of that what you will.

[player_tooltip player_id='105367' first='Daniel' last='Freitag'] (Bloomington Jefferson) WR. 6'2, 175 lbs.

My choice for the state's top multi-sporter, regardless of sport or class, Bloomington Jefferson's electric and elusive WR [player_tooltip player_id='105367' first='Daniel' last='Freitag'] saw more wrinkles added to his already popular recruitment in both football and basketball. In January, blue-blooded Notre Dame offered a football scholarship, and in early March the new staff at Wisconsin also reached out with a P5 football scholarship. Wisco also seemed to be a player in his basketball recruitment, so both of those offers are quite significant at this point in time. There's still dispute as to which sport he's ultimately decide to play in college, but Wisconsin isn't the only college program to offer him in both sports, so I'm not taking anything off the table in terms of what he's thinking or planning on doing at the next level. However, as a football guy, I'd love to see him play football in college. I've watched his junior film like 15 times since the Jags season wrapped up in November.

*post-publishing edit. Freitag just announced he's transferring to California to play basketball for his final year of high school. This adds a wrinkle to things forsure, as before this I've heard nothing but Wisconsin love from the do-it-all high school football standout. Michigan's recent success does hold well in the conversation, and has done well with freakishly athletic high school football players in the past. Perich definitely holds his own in that conversation, as his 4.59 40 (unverified), 38-inch vert, and 10'4" broad jump are outstanding for the prep level. Production, athleticism, explosive ability, versatility, and just about anything else you could want in a high school football skill player. Don't sleep on Duluth-area football.

[player_tooltip player_id='368529' first='Jide' last='Abasiri'] (Prior Lake) DL. 6'5, 265 lbs.

The newest Golden Gopher commit is an ultra-exciting one, as Prior Lake's [player_tooltip player_id='368529' first='Jide' last='Abasiri'] has unlimited, untapped potential and is just scratching the surface of his football aptitude. The 6'5, 265 lber. started playing football in high school and possesses the size and length that made him simply too hard to ignore for big-time college programs. Luckily, his athleticism, strength, and motor kept his foot in the door, and the likes of Iowa State, Kansas State, Kansas, Minnesota, Central Michigan, Washington, Ohio, and Mizzou threw their names in the mix for Abasiri's talents, with four of those P5 offers coming since Prior Lake's season ended and Mizzou's coming only a couple of weeks before he committed to the Gophers. It's been a busy offseason here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes. In addition to the now-P5 2025 recruits like Meyer Swinney Meyer Swinney 6'3" | 210 lbs | WR Edina | 2025 State MN , Emmanuel Karmo Emmanuel Karmo 6'3" | 225 lbs | LB Robbinsdale Cooper | 2025 State MN , and Abu Tarawallie Abu Tarawallie 6'4" | 260 lbs | DL Providence Academy | 2025 State MN , Minnesota's class of 2024 has seen some major moves on the recruiting front and the scholarship prospects are beginning to reveal themselves.
