It is time for our weekly look at what is making recruiting news in the state of Texas. Recruiting is a facet of the game that continues year-round. Here are the young men that had a busy week from a recruiting perspective this week.
Dontae Carter-Athlete-Steele-6’3” 172-Pounds-2024
Dontate Carter does an excellent job on both sides of the football for Steele High School. Looking primarily at the defensive side of the ball for this article. Carter has a nose for the football, and he does an excellent job of making plays on the football. Carter is a physical player that uses his hands well to jam opposing wide receivers. The Steele football standout earned a scholarship from the Tulane Green Wave. Keep an eye on Carter this season. He has the potential to have a strong season.
Javian Osborne Javian Osborne 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Forney | 2026 State TX -Running Back-Forney-5’10” 185-Pounds-2026
Javian Osborne Javian Osborne 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Forney | 2026 State TX is a running back that has excellent speed. He is a patient running back that does a good job of allowing rushing lanes to develop. Osborne works well out of the backfield as a receiver as well and is a threat to take it the distance from anywhere on the field. The talented running back has had a busy week from a recruiting perspective. Osborne earned a scholarship offer from USC and took a visit to see the Baylor Bears over the course of the week.
Tice Williams Tice Williams 6'3" | 190 lbs | DB Conroe | 2024 State TX -Athlete-Conroe-6’3” 187-Pounds-2024
Tice Williams Tice Williams 6'3" | 190 lbs | DB Conroe | 2024 State TX is nightmare for opposing wide receivers and quarterbacks to prepare for. He is a defensive back that does a tremendous job of making plays on the ball. Williams has no trouble getting physical with opposing wide receivers. He does a great job of separating the ball from the ball carrier. Earlier in the week, Williams earned a scholarship offer from Northwestern State University. He is a prospect to watch out for this season.
Bailey Fletcher Bailey Fletcher 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB San Antonio Reagan | 2024 State TX -Defensive Back-Reagan-6’1” 183-Pounds-2024
The Reagan defensive back is not afraid to get physical with opposing wide receivers. He does a good job of bumping opposing wide receivers off routes and disrupting the timing. Fletcher has good speed and sticks with opposing wide receivers in impressive fashion. Fletcher earned a scholarship offer from Yale this week. He is a defensive back that continues to build recruiting momentum and is going to be major target in the secondary for plenty of teams this season.
Kamarion Houston-Defensive Back-LBJ-Austin-5’11”-2025
Kamarion Houston is blessed with tremendous speed in the secondary. He has the speed needed to terrorize opposing wide receivers and keep them off-balance. Houston makes aggressive plays on the ball and does a good job of playing the ball while it is in the air. Houston earned a scholarship offer from Campbell University earlier in the week. Houston is a prospect to watch out for over the next couple of seasons.
Copelin Windfont-Linebacker-Crosby-6’1” 215-Pounds-2025
Copelin Windfont is extremely impressive at getting off of and defeating blocks. He is able to get into the opposing offensive backfield in impressive fashion. Windfont uses his speed well and can play the run as well as the pass effectively. The talented Crosby linebacker earned a scholarship offer from Arkansas State earlier in the week. Keep an eye on Crosby, he has the potential to see plenty of action on Saturdays in the future.
