Capping off the Border Battles with the North Dakota Skills Players. Again with a 7-on-7 type setup with offense having a starter and backup, defense in a 4-4 scheme. There is a lot of high level talent on both sides of the ball that will have a lot of breakout seasons this year. What's most exciting about this group is that there is a lot of different teams represented and not a lot of repeats. North Dakota High School State football titles are completely up for grabs in 2023! Take a look at the ND Border Battle Players below!

QB- These two QB's do a great job leading their offenses and should have a breakout season in their Senior Season. Both having good arm strength and accuracy to make good passes down the field to keep the offenses moving. Their athleticism gives them good mobility to extend plays or take off rip off good chunks of yardage with their legs. Lastly, they both show good poise and patience to make good decisions to find the open receivers.

[player_tooltip player_id='447257' first='Rayce' last='Worley'], Langdon Area-Edmore-Munich, Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='242536' first='Paxton' last='Ystaas'], Des Lacs-Burlington, Highlights

RB- Speed highlights these two RB's. Whether it is taking handoffs or catching passes, these guys ripped off giant chunks of yards to get the momentum in their teams' favor. They also add good vision and patience to find the open space in the opposing defenses. Once they found the open space, they showed their good agility to make that big cut into the open field and really extend the play. Also mixing in a good deal of physicality to muscle through tacklers as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='447260' first='Barry' last='Kpeenu'], West Fargo Sheyenne, Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='552098' first='Ty' last='Dassinger'], Dickinson Trinity, Highlights

WR- This particular set of WR's are the definition of an explosive offensive unit. Lots of speed to take the defenses and burn them deep on any given play. With the speed is also good enough route running at top speed to get the separation they need to make catches. Split out wide, in the slot, long passes or short passes, these guys were going to make a big play for the offense. They also did an excellent job reeling in passes in tight coverage. Lastly, if the defense could catch them, did a great job either shaking them off or running through them.

[player_tooltip player_id='289675' first='Isiah' last='St. Romain'], Williston, Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='294154' first='Logan' last='Conklin'], Minot, Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='447263' first='Sam' last='Ovsak'], Fargo Shanley, Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='533095' first='Cris' last='Peppard'], Mohall/Lansford/Sherwood, Highlights

TE- I really like the TE position because of the versatility in the athletes that play it. These two athletes are much of the same playing this position. Ranging from a go-to receiver on valuable downs, to being a good blocker on the perimeter to spark the run game. Versatility in the passing game with their frame, speed, route running, vertical and hands. The muscle and physicality they show in their blocking as well to show the complete TE package.

[player_tooltip player_id='677438' first='Tony' last='Leal'], West Fargo, Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='677970' first='Joe' last='Rose'], Fargo North, Highlights

Defense

LB- This group of LB's show versatility as well. While they all are very good tacklers, they are also very quick and fast. They are a good group of run stoppers with their reads, quickness, and physicality. They do an excellent job of shaking blocks as well and keeping good pad level to still make tackles after they escape blockers. Their speed also doubles over in the pass game to coverage the short passing zones as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='77498' first='Peder' last='Haugo'], Fargo North, Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='294151' first='Wyatt' last='Piehl'], Mandan, Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='675349' first='Garrett' last='Westlind'], Northstar High School, Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='677175' first='Nykolaus' last='Snyder'], Williston, Highlights

DB- I really like this group of DB's because of their athleticism. Showing they can play both on offense and defense with their speed and hands. They put themselves over the top with their awareness and athleticism to go and make plays on the ball while locked on to a receiver. The verticals give them the advantage with their frames to high-point the football in traffic. Lastly, but most important, their tackling ability puts them over the top to really help the defensive units in the run game.

[player_tooltip player_id='447265' first='Noah' last='Olson'], West Fargo Sheyenne, Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='174171' first='Jerry' last='Gibson'], Fargo South, Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='677942' first='Keyton' last='McGregor'], West Fargo, Highlights

ATH- Here is another group of athletes that were too hard to place on just one side of the ball. They play various positions on both sides of the ball and play them all well. Bottom line on offense, get them the ball and let them make plays. On the other side of the ball, get them in position to make plays, and again, just let them make plays.

[player_tooltip player_id='365335' first='Kaden' last='Christmann'], Fargo Shanley, Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='242526' first='Luke' last='Lorenz'], Fargo Davies, Highlights

[player_tooltip player_id='289681' first='Jack' last='Simmers'], Grand Forks Central, Highlights
