Continue ReadingIt is easy to know who the top prospects in the nation are. Everybody is talking about them, and they are already receiving a lot of offers. I get a kick out of going to find some of the best players in the nation that most people don’t know about. Today we are going to be talking about players in Mississippi and Alabama.
Jacari Owens, OLB, Louisville
Owens is a guy who was on a very good team last season. That team has so much depth that he shared a lot of playing time with upperclassmen. However, when he did hit the field he was very impressive. Owens took two interceptions back for touchdowns last season. He has nice size standing at 6-0 190. Owens can come up to make the big hits he needs to make as well. He is going to help his team make another big playoff run this season.
Tayquonn McKinney, OLB, Louisville
McKinney is another player who saw a lot of playing time on the Louisville championship team last season. McKinney can come up to make those big hits like his teammate Owens. He has seen himself get a little recognition, but he hasn’t received his first offer yet. He was a Future Elite Magnolia All Star last season. McKinney did a great job in that game. McKinney is a very talented player that is going to make big name for himself.
Trevionn Morton Trevionn Morton 6'2" | 190 lbs | DB Wingfield | 2025 State MS , ATH, Wingfield
Morton is a very fast player that coaches need to know. He is a big time playmaker who does great things on the football field. He loves to come up and make hits. Owens also knows how to play very good man coverage. Morton is a 4.5 guy that has great size at the defensive back position. A lot of players in the Jackson Public School system go unnoticed. He is one of the guys from that area that coaches need to know. I expect him to have a big season.
Zion Nunn Zion Nunn 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Booneville | 2025 State MS , RB, Booneville
Nunn is going to be a star on the next level. He is an all purpose back that knows how to handle himself out of the backfield. Nunn has some strength in his lower body. He also has some good speed. Nunn is a return specialist as well. That adds value to his game. Nunn is going to see his recruiting process pick up soon. He is the truth.
Dalyn Pierce Dalyn Pierce 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Bay Springs | 2025 State MS , Bay Springs, ATH
Pierce is a guy that can line up and play offense or defense. I love the way he gets off the ball when he is on defense. He has a quick release and he is violent with his hands. If he continues to get taller he will have a great chance to be a highly sought after tight end. He does a lot of great things on the offensive side of the football. He can block and has great hands.
Timothy Merritt Timothy Merritt 6'2" | 185 lbs | DB Parker | 2025 State AL , DB, AH Parker (Ala)
Merritt is one of the best defensive backs in the nation for his class. He has been picking up a lot of offers, but he is still a guy that is under the radar. He will be a guy with 30 plus offers when he is a senior. When I watched his film I was highly impressed.
