With Chapa’s skill set he is on of the top players in the state for this coming season and I feel he was last season as well. He is a player that is able to drive out of his back peddle and make a play on the ball, taking it the opposite direction at times. He was leading the state in interception for awhile and when you watch the tape you can see why. He is great at tackling in the open field and can rip the ball away from ball carriers as well. He has an aggressive playing style but has the vision to not get suckered into double moves or trick plays. Will be a player on a lot of college coaches radars this season.
Pacheco is a corner with great feet, that can put his foot in the ground and explode out to make a break on the ball. He has good hips and speed being able to stay in the receivers hip pocket and run the route for them at times, beating them to the ball. He has good hands and is able to come up with interceptions when you throw at him or playing through the receivers hands and batting the ball down. He is also not afraid to come and help in run support, being able to make tackles in the open field. He is one of the top corners in the state and will try and prove that this season.
Highlights
Shelp is a corner that is able to come up in press or can play back and still be able to make an impact in all aspects of the game. He comes up and plays the run well, shedding blockers and rallying to the ball. When he plays in press he can turn and run with the receiver and then playing through the receivers hands to knock the ball out. He has good vision and watches through receivers to be able to read the QB to jump routes and knock the ball down.
Highlights
Johnston is a player that is good at coming up rallying to the underneath passes and not giving up the deep pass. He is able to stay on top of the receiver and force them out of the play with his body positioning. He slow plays well with his feet, back peddling slowly and then is able to either turn and run or break on the shallow routes and try to disrupt the pass. He is not afraid to come up and make a tackle on outside runs and will bring the ball carrier down quickly.
Vegas is a player that is under the radar but will have a chance to skyrocket his stock this season. He is a tall corner that has a lot of speed and can play trail technique really well, making his way back into the play to dislodge the ball from the receiver. He has good vision and uses that when in coverage, reading through his receiver and reacting on the underneath passes when they are throw. On film he stands out with being able to take away the top receiver, just has to string it together this season and he can be one of the top corners in the class.
