Prep Redzone Kansas scouts watched one Wheat game during the Topeka event.
Here is a rundown of four defensive players who played well for the Wheat. One quick observation is that the defensive tool chest at Wichita East is full of talented options.
Jakdyn Mossallah, 5’10, 160, DB, Wichita East, ‘25
Mossallah has the speed to play at the next level. The key question is at what position? He could play safety, or corner, he could move to offense, and will for sure contribute on special teams. He had two pass-break-ups in the contest scouted by Prep Redzone. He has solid closing speed in the open field.
Nicholas Dooley, 5’5”, 130, DB, Wichita East, ‘25
Dooley is fast and can cover. His size could be an issue for him moving forward. He had a knack for breaking up plays with solid timing. Dooley has a bright future at East, and it appears that he will have a chance to improve in practice against solid competition for two more high school seasons.
Pharrell Adams Pharrell Adams 6'0" | 210 lbs | LB Wichita East | 2026 State KS , 5’9”, 195, LB, Wichita East, ‘26
Adams caught my eye quickly. He was covering inside routes for the Wheat and is listed as a linebacker for Wichita East. He is a physical specimen and has three high school seasons to get even bigger and stronger. Adams could eventually move to safety or as a pass-rushing down lineman. It all just depends on how he matures and how his skill set grows. The bottom line here, is I expect Adams to play on Saturdays in the fall of 2026.
A’maree Bohannan, 5’11”, 165, DB, Wichita Northwest, ‘26
Northwest High School in Wichita is a football factory. Bohannon, who won’t graduate until 2026 could be another solid product out of that program. He is a big young kid. Bohannon can press opponents and he ran with everyone lined up across from him at the Capital City Showdown. He has a high ceiling.
