In particular, seven prospects earned their first rankings of the cycle within the top 50.
Here are a few notes on the group, and click here for more information on the eight joining the list from No. 51 to No. 100.
No. 10 Da’Shawn McBryde Da’Shawn McBryde 6'3" | 200 lbs | DB Denham Springs | 2024 State LA | 6-3, 195 DB | Denham Springs
The Yellow Jackets’ safety wasn’t on Prep Redzone Louisiana’s — or many others’ — radar last summer, but changed that early — and reiterated his case often — during a record-setting junior campaign. McBryde is a big, rangy, ballhawking safety, who is explosive to the ball and through blockers and continuing this track season to work on his already-good closing speed. Continuing to develop physically to closing in on 200 pounds, he posted footage of an 11.09-second 100-meter dash Thursday at a track meet. McBryde’s nine interceptions in the fall caught everyone’s attention, but he is an impressive, well-rounded player who should have his choice of almost any program in the country fairly soon.
No. 12 Tristan Santoro Tristan Santoro 6'6" | 270 lbs | OL Evangel Christian | 2024 State LA | 6-6, 270 OL | Evangel Christian
As noted in the rankings release countdown, Santoro is a big man of a bit of mystery. The three jamboree clips on the Eagles’ Hudl page, background information on his track and field and wrestling athleticism and reviews from other coaches and reporters were going to be enough earn him a spot somewhere on this list alone. But additional footage showed Santoro actually has a strong case as the top offensive line prospect in another solid Louisiana class for the position group. The big tackle is strong with a long frame and light on his feet in a way few, if any other, of his peers appear to be. This ball is already rolling on Santoro’s recruitment, but this spring and summer should be a major coming out party as he and college coaches make their respective rounds.
No. 17 Kavion Broussard Kavion Broussard 6'6" | 270 lbs | OL Zachary | 2024 State LA | 6-6, 270 OL | Zachary
The Broncos’ left tackle is another of Louisiana’s top rising senior offensive linemen making a case for himself among the best in the cohort with his long frame and agility and and overall athleticism at his size. Broussard has worked the past few months to bulk up more than 20 pounds as he continues to fill out his frame and get stronger. He quickly became one of the most heavily recruited offensive linemen in the state with a run of offers early in the season that hasn’t slowed down, but that process appears poised to hit another gear sooner than later as LSU and others puts eyes on him.
No. 20 KJ Daniels KJ Daniels 5'10" | 155 lbs | WR Bowling Green | 2024 State LA | 5-10, 155 WR | Franklinton
One of the fastest and most dynamic few players in Louisiana’s 2024 class may have just hit another gear in his recruitment with a recent Oklahoma offer. Daniels has a busy couple of weeks upcoming that include trips to Norman, Okla., and Louisiana Tech, and his offer list figures to continue to explode as he hits campuses this summer and gives college coaches first-hand looks at his speed and explosiveness.
No. 21 Dylan Day Dylan Day 6'0" | 170 lbs | DB Southern Lab | 2024 State LA | 6-0, 170 DB | Southern Lab
The recruiting blow-up has been fast and furious for the Kittens’ standout since the calendar turned to 2023. The potentially versatile defensive back is a quick, explosive multisport sport athlete, who also competes for Southern Lab’s highly competitive track and field team, and an absolute ballhawk from his safety position patrolling the back end of the defense. Day flies to the ball — and also has a knack for often flying the other direction with takeaways.
No. 31 Geordan Guidry Geordan Guidry 6'3" | 240 lbs | DL Ruston | 2024 State LA | 6-3, 240 DL | Ruston
Start running through the Bearcats’ roster from the defensive front seven on, and understanding how the program finally made its long-awaited return to a state championship game becomes pretty quickly clear. Senior defensive tackle Christian Davis Christian Davis 6'3" | 270 lbs | DL Ruston | 2023 State LA , junior defensive end Ahmad Breaux Ahmad Breaux 6'3" | 260 lbs | DL Ruston | 2024 State LA and junior linebacker Jadon Mayfield Jadon Mayfield 6'1" | 220 lbs | LB Ruston | 2024 State LA were all already fairly high-ranked prospects on Prep Redzone Louisiana’s lists entering the season. Now Guidry debuts at No. 31 for the 2024 class, and linebacker Zheric Hill will make his debut on the 2025 list this month. The big defensive end lined up four- or five-tech on the right side and powered his way all season past opponents’ standout left tackles, their help and double-teams to race Breaux to the quarterback en route to 74 tackles, including 10 for loss and 7.5 sacks.
No. 49 Jayce Mitchell Jayce Mitchell 6'4" | 285 lbs | OL Destrehan | 2024 State LA | 6-4, 285 OL | Destrehan
The big, athletic junior was a standout right tackle on an impressive offensive line overall, headlined by highly ranked senior prospects Christian Martin Christian Martin 6'6" | 260 lbs | OL Destrehan | 2023 State LA and Landry Cannon Landry Cannon 6'3" | 345 lbs | OL Destrehan | 2023 State LA , that paved the way for close to 5,000 yards of offense this season, including 270 in a grind of a state championship game against Ruston’s monster front. The scholarship offers have started ramping up for the Wildcats’ top returning offensive lineman, including recent Power Five programs such as Cincinnati, Cal and Georgia Tech joining Tulane, Louisiana Tech, ULM, UTSA and others around the region.
