Throughout the series we identified some of the best talent throughout New Jersey in each position. If you haven’t gotten the chance, I highly recommend taking a look at the Spotlight Series to see how loaded NJ is in the 2024 class. However, the talent in New Jersey does not stop there. It trickles down into younger and younger athletes; which brings us to the class of 2025.
While the junior’s of the 2024 class had skill at every level and plenty of film to show it, you truly have to be elite if you’re being recognized as a sophomore. With two years left in their high school careers, there is so much more to look forward it. These are the players that are Rising Stars and will be talked about for many falls to come. And to begin with, we must address the most important position in all of football. Here are five quarterbacks from the 2025 class that are true Rising Stars.
Starting off this list with one of the most sought after quarterbacks in the 2025 class, we bring you Romelo Tables Romelo Tables 6’1″ | 185 lbs | QB Clifton | 2025 State NJ . Romelo is a special talent, he has Johnny Manziel like magic to his game. With 8 passing touchdowns and 5 on the ground, he is a true duel threat quarterback.
Romelo has the ability to slide around the pocket fluidly and knows when it’s appropriate to tuck it and run. What is most impressive is he has an amazing ability to keep his eyes downfield while sliding around the pocket. And when it’s time to deliver a deep ball, you know Romelo can make the throw with near perfect accuracy. I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if we saw his total touchdowns double in 2023.
Highlights
Here we have the biggest arm in the 2025 class, Deante Ruffin Deante Ruffin 6’2″ | 200 lbs | QB Winslow | 2025 State NJ . It was scary what Deante and his talented group of receivers were able to do to opposing defenses in 2022. If there’s one thing you shouldn’t do against Deante and Co., it’s run man coverage. With the speed of Camden High’s receivers and Deante’s cannon of an arm, this team was able to run streak after streak for touchdowns. It almost looked unfair with how much Camden High abused defenses through the air.
In 2022, Deante accumulated 2016 passing yards and 17 touchdown passes to go with it. He is also an impressive ball carrier. Bulldozing over players half his size, Deante rushed for 373 yards and added 9 more touchdowns on the ground. As it stands, Deante may be the most talented QB in the 2025 class coming out of New Jersey. He has a bright future with whichever D1 program gains his interest.
Kendall Armstrong IV Kendall Armstrong IV 6’3″ | 180 lbs | QB Absegami | 2025 State NJ is another QB with great size as a sophomore. Standing 6’3″, he already towers over his competitors. To go with his height is his rocket of an arm. Kendall is a true gun slinger, and with improved throwing mechanics he’ll have the ability to throw even farther and faster in years to come.
Even with a down year for his program, Kendall was still able to light up the scoreboard with 17 touchdowns and 1322 passing yards. His team started off 0-6, but they really picked up their stride towards the end of the season finishing 3-1. I anticipate that momentum will carry over into the next season, and we will see Kendall take full control of the field.

Devin Sisler Devin Sisler 6’4″ | 200 lbs | QB Don Bosco | 2025 State NJ is about to make waves in 2023. As a QB that transferred from Central Regional to Don Bosco Prep, he is about to receive the spotlight like never before. Even with Central Regional not doing as well as they’d hope, Deven was still able to throw for nearly 2000 yards.
While watching the film you may be mistaken into thinking Deven is already a senior. He has great size for his age, and he plays with great technique all around. He’s fast with his decision making, gets out of his drop very quickly, and throws on target with perfect timing. And when needed, Deven can turn the corner and sprint up field with his long strides. Don Bosco Prep is receiving a well polished QB for 2023.
For the last Rising Star on this list, we save it for the unorthodox: a lefty quarterback. Leading Bergen Catholic to a state championship, Dominic Campanile Dominic Campanile 6’1″ | 160 lbs | QB Bergen Catholic | 2025 State NJ was slinging the rock as the team dominated throughout the season. As a sophomore, Dominic threw for 17 touchdowns as he continuously turned gutsy throws into successes. He is a very patient passer, letting his receivers get into position before he lets the ball loose. And he does a great job of escaping pressure and keeping the drive alive when his team needs it the most. I look forward to seeing Dominic and Deven battle it out this upcoming September.
