These Class of ’25-’27 prospects are looking to solidify themselves as household names come the next season. A few of these underclassmen have already logged varsity minutes, and some are coming off strong middle school seasons and will be fresh on the high school scene. Here’s a look at some of the standout DBs from The Sooner State Shootout.
The lengthy Safety showed his range all weekend at The Sooner State Shootout making plays from hashmark to sideline in 2 deep coverage. Parker displayed above average eye-discipline and field awareness being rarely caught out of position. He moves effortlessly and is smooth in transitions. He attacks the football in the air which allowed him to breakup and/or intercept passes. KP’s combination of length and fluidity makes him one to watch over the next few seasons roaming the secondary at Olathe North.
The former middle school standout linebacker got a chance to mix it up with some current high school freshmen at The Sooner State Shootout this past weekend. Despite being one of the younger defenders competing in 15U, Zambo held his own often drawing the assignment of covering a RB out the backfield or a slot WR. The Class of ’27 LB/SS has a long, sturdy frame and moves well in coverage. He plays physical on underneath routes and closes space on receivers. With his frame he could grow into a fulltime inside LB, but for the 7v7 circuit he’s showing he can play in space and cover like a SS.
David Wakes, Jr.
David Wakes, Jr.
The soon-to-be sophomore should make a name for himself throughout the spring and summer 7v7 circuit at his age group. Wakes is a versatile DB who showed cover skills from both the outside corner position and in nickel at The Sooner State Shootout. He has a solid frame and excelled at playing physical. His patience and eye-discipline allowed him to make several plays on intermediate routes including an interception. The Class of ’26 product takes good angles and breaks on the ball without many wasted steps. He should be one of the more active young DBs in the state with his ability to defend multiple position
Tremaine Savage

The sophomore-to-be could possibly be the top CB in the Class of ’26 in the state. Despite his slight build, Savage plays with a lot of confidence and swagger and didn’t shy away from any of the top WRs at The Sooner Shootout. He also played physical for his size. He’s twitchy and has smooth hips in transitions. Tre showed his versatility lining up in press man, bail, and cover 2 and only was caught out of position a couple times all weekend. The confidence that he plays with along with his athleticism should make him an All-Conference caliber DB for the next 3 seasons.
The Class of ’25 cornerback had plenty of opportunities to show off his skillset over the past weekend at The Sooner State Shootout. Playing opposite of freshman standout Tre Savage with Team Kansas. The boisterous, energetic CB made the most of his reps showing good eye-discipline and high motor breaking on routes. Like the other Team Kansas DBs, Kearn showed versatility playing multiple coverages throughout the course of the weekend. With the energy and confidence he brings to the secondary and his solid frame, he should make a case over the spring and summer circuit as one of the top DBs in 4A heading into fall.
