Here are five headline-making linebackers from eight-man schools who could play at the next level, and still have yet to sign.
Connor Dinkel, LB, 5’9”, 187, Hill City
This Ringneck senior played both offensive guard and linebacker in 2022. He had 149 total tackles during his senior season including 18 tackles for loss. Dinkel would have an immediate impact on special teams’ units and could play, guard, backer, or fullback. Dinkel is currently unsigned and is scheduled to play in the K.E.M.F.A. 8-Man All-Star game in June.
Owen Day, LB, 6’0”, 295, Trego
Owen Day is a physical prospect. He finished with 111 total tackles and 10 tackles for loss. He also played quarterback for the Golden Eagles. He is quick, strong, and has a solid mind for the game. Day is currently uncommitted but is being looked at by NAIA programs. He is scheduled to compete in the K.E.M.F.A. 8-Man All-Star game in June.
Grant Stephens. LB, Little River
Stephens is another athlete who could end up playing multiple positions. He finished with 105 total tackles and 34 tackles for loss. He was a difference-maker for the Redskins defensive unit in 2022. He is unsigned and scheduled to participate in the K.E.M.F.A. 8-Man All-Star game in June.
Cooper Jermark Cooper Jermark 5'11" | 170 lbs | LB St. John's/Tipton | 2023 KS , LB, 5’11”, 167, St. John’s Beloit/Tipton
Jermark is a gifted athlete. He reacts well to the football and finishes tackles. He accumulated 130 tackles and 25 tackles for loss in his senior season. Jermark is currently unsigned and is scheduled to play in the K.E..F.A. 8-Man All-Star game in June.
Kacen Anthony, LB, 6’2”, 215, Satanta
Anthony is a gifted two-way football player. He played quarterback for the Indians finishing with more than 1,200 yards of total offense. His best bet to play collegiality is at linebacker where he racked up 102 total tackles during the 2022 season. Anthony is currently unsigned and is scheduled to play in the K.E..F.A. 8-Man All-Star game in June.
