McKea is our top quarterback in the class of 2025. The Hawks quarterback impresses with his size and deep ball accuracy. He’s fearless in the pocket and will stand tall to make big throws even when he knows he’s about to get crushed. McKea’s accuracy outside the numbers is elite and he throws one of the state’s best balls. Each throw always seems to land perfectly in his receiver’s bread basket. In addition, he does a great job diagnosing what a defense is trying to do and beats them by finding the weak areas in their coverage.
Mack Kelson Mack Kelson 6'1" | 165 lbs | QB Wasatch | 2025 State UT || QB || 6’0 || 165 || Wasatch High School || 2025
Kelson led one of the state’s most explosive offenses in 2022 while under center for the Wasps. His arm strength is exceptional, and when his receivers break free on the outside, he can hit them in stride for big plays. Kelson can decimate defenses from the pocket with elite throws, but he’s also dangerous with his feet. He displays great decision-making on option plays and when deciding when to scramble or wait for receivers to get open on broken plays. Kelson is accurate at every field level, and that won’t change in 2023.

Gaisford’s decision-making is exceptional. The Cavemen quarterback does a great job getting the ball out quickly and goes through his progressions at a good pace. His preparation is evident based on the way he effectively attacks defenses on the field. Gaisford’s ball placement is exceptional, and he understands what it means to deliver passes that only his receivers can catch. In addition, he does a great job making throws under duress to keep plays alive. Gainsfords ability to read defenses will make him one of the state’s top quarterbacks in 2023.

The Pioneers are coming off back-to-back state championships, and Niu has the skills to help them three-peat as they navigate the transition to 6A in 2023. Niu does an excellent job retreating from pressure while keeping his eyes downfield to give his receivers time to get open. His decision-making and accuracy are impressive. Niu is patient in the pocket and does a good job not forcing passes. He has a cannon for an arm and can keep plays alive with his ability to navigate the pocket.
Dru Gardner Dru Gardner 6'1" | 160 lbs | QB Roy | 2025 State UT || QB || 6’0 || 165 || Roy High School || 2025
Gardner shined in 2022 with his lively arm, helping the Royal’s offense take flight in 2022. His accuracy on throws over 20 yards is impressive, and he can make tight window passes outside the numbers look easy. Gardner is also a potent runner who gashes defenses with his legs on designed runs and scrambles. His athleticism helps him evade pass rushers, and while he’s on the move, he does a good job keeping his eyes downfield. Gardner’s dual-threat abilities will make him one of the toughest quarterbacks in the state to slow down in 2023.
