LB Kendric Davis – Harding
Kendric is one of the better-kept secrets in the city. He made All-Conference last season as a linebacker for Harding, and he looks like his best football is ahead of him for sure. At 6’2 and 185 pounds, he can really run at the linebacker position. He played inside and outside linebacker for the Rams and you can see him running down plays alley to alley on a consistent basis. He shows good discipline in zone drops in the passing game, collecting a few interceptions and breaking up several other passes. He takes good angles in the open field to make solo tackles and is able to tackle well in open spaces. He can play some running back as well – and that’s an area I’m excited to see him explore more because he moves with some impressive natural fluidity with the ball in his hands. He has started to get some recruiting interest, and I expect as he gets out in the camp circuit he will turn some heads and get on more lists.
OL Brandon Stoner – Ardrey Kell
This young man has a future college offensive lineman written all over him. You can see his work ethic in the weight room this offseason paying off. At 6’4 and 295 pounds, he made All-Conference last season and projects very well to the next level with two years remaining to continue to develop. When you take a look at his highlights, literally the first 6 clips are knockdown blocks – and they are done in a variety of ways. Run game you have straight ahead mashing knockdown blocks, climbing to the second level and laying out linebackers, getting out in space on pulls and laying out defenders. Also, in pass protection, just one simple punch and the pass rush is done. Super impressive stuff. Also, he moves well in space in mentioning the pulls. He definitely should be on more recruiting radars today.
WR Brian Thompson Brian Thompson 6'1" | 165 lbs | ATH West Mecklenburg | 2025 NC – West Meck
One thing I like to see is young prospects show incredible growth in the offseason. Thompson stands at 6’1 and 165 pounds, and last season he had some impressive catches in 1 on 1 situations – especially in jump ball opportunities. But I also like what he shows in route discipline and his footwork. I think he could break out and have an All-Conference season this year as long as he continues to work hard at the rate he is now. He has very good speed in open space, and strong hands to win contested passes versus 1 on 1 coverage.
DB Quavette McRae – Crest
Quavette falls into the category of how I’m liking his growth this offseason. He made some impact plays last season – he had a nice Pick 6 that showed his good ball skills and overall athleticism on the return, and he had a couple of nice pass breakups in man coverage. However, at 6’0 and 170 pounds, I like what he is putting out there as far as showing his agility in footwork and change of direction drills, two essential things to being a great defensive back. He has started to pick up some recruiting interest and gone on a couple of unofficial visits. I am excited to see how he performs during the camp season, I think coaches will be impressed.
DL Jadyn Farmer Jadyn Farmer 6'4" | 260 lbs | DL Butler | 2025 State NC – Butler
Farmer is an impressive prospect in a number of ways. At 6’4 and 260 pounds, he currently holds an offer from Boston College, and once you turn on the film, you see why. To be such a young DL, he has a couple of nice techniques to rush the passer from the Defensive Tackle position. He has a nice push/pull move where he uses his long arms and hands well, sheds the defender quickly, and uses good closing speed in short spaces to sack the quarterback or make tackles in the backfield for losses. Secondly, he has a strong bullrush and shed move that is impressive against weaker and overmatched offensive linemen. I’d expect Farmer to pick up interest in exponential numbers once the camp season starts in full swing.
