In today’s article, we are going to take a glance at some class of 2024 running backs that scouts will want to keep an eye on this upcoming season.

Caden Durham Caden Durham 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Duncanville | 2024 State TX is a running back that has an extra gear. The multi-sport athlete had a tremendous 2022 football season for Duncanville. Durham rushed 210 times for 1,960 yards and tacked on 36 touchdowns for good measure. He is a patient runner with good vision. Durham has no trouble finding the rushing lane and exploding through the hole. Durham has over 30 scholarship offers and plenty of the major players like LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma are wanting his services. I look for an encore performance in 2023 from the talented Duncanville running back.

With an impressive mix of power and speed, Bryan Jackson Bryan Jackson 6'0" | 225 lbs | RB McKinney | 2024 State TX tends to punish opposing defenses with his running style. Jackson has the power to shake off the initial hit and just continue going forward. Meanwhile, Jackson is elusive enough to make people miss and, in the process, make good defenders look silly. The McKinney running back is a good receiver out of the backfield and is a weapon that can be used in the passing game. With scholarship offers from USC, Texas, and Baylor to his credit look for this young man to do plenty of damage at the next level.

Jaylen Boardley Jaylen Boardley 6'0" | 190 lbs | RB Pleasant Grove | 2024 State TX is a versatile prospect that sees plenty of playing time on both sides of the ball for Pleasant Grove. Boardley is a powerful running back that tends to drag opposing tacklers with him. However, he is just not a bruising type of running back, Boardley is a back that can opposing defenders miss. He has shown that he can be an elusive running back for other teams to defend against. Boardley is a dangerous wide receiver out of the backfield and has proven to be a difficult receiver for defenses to account for on the field. Boardley has numerous powerhouse scholarship offers from schools such as LSU, Oklahoma State, and Arkansas. Keep an eye on Boardley this upcoming season.
Keyshawn Walls Keyshawn Walls 6'0" | 215 lbs | RB Hooks | 2024 State TX -Hooks-6’0” 215-Pounds
Running back Keyshawn Walls Keyshawn Walls 6'0" | 215 lbs | RB Hooks | 2024 State TX is a workhorse for Hooks High School. Last season, Walls rushed for over 1,900 yards. However, Walls proceeded to tack on 148 receptions for 2,049 yards and he punched the ball in the end zone 24 times. Walls has tremendous speed and must be accounted for in both the run and passing games. He has impressive vision and is able to run the ball between the tackles as well as cut it to the outside. Once he finds a rushing lane, he tends to explode through the hole. Walls has earned scholarship offers from Arkansas State, Texas State, UNLV, UTSA, and Louisiana-Monroe. He is a prospect with the potential to have a big season in 2023.

Versatile running backs is the norm in the state of Texas. Carson Smith Carson Smith 5'8" | 160 lbs | RB Blanco | 2024 TX is a patient runner that has a good idea of which rushing lane to take and running through it. He is a running back that knows when to cut the run to the outside. Smith is an effective receiver out of the backfield and is dangerous when he catches the ball and makes a few moves. Blanco fans should look for another big season from Smith this upcoming season. Smith’s versatility will serve him well at the next level.

Caleb Blocker Caleb Blocker 5'10" | 195 lbs | RB Katy Tompkins | 2024 State TX is an extremely productive running back for Tompkins High School. Blocker is excellent at making opposing defenders miss. Teams are forced to bring multiple defenders to bring Blocker down. One defender has trouble bringing him down. He is a running back that knows when to cut the run to the outside. From a pass catching perspective, Blocker does a good job of catching the ball out of the backfield. However, it is Blocker’s speed that is going to draw college coaches to Katy. He has the potential to put even more impressive numbers next season. Blocker is another talented running back to watch out for next season.
