The upside of all 4 of these young men is so high that you have to stop and take a good look. This fall, they could come out and dominate and the only ones who would be caught off guard were the ones who didn’t pay attention to what they did in previous years on the field.
Malachi Allen Malachi Allen 6'2" | 215 lbs | QB Arsenal Technical | 2024 State IN – Arsenal Tech – QB – 6’2″ 215lbs
Allen is the type of recruit who some schools were hoping I wouldn’t find and highlight because they wanted a steal of a player. However, with as much raw talent and god gifted ability that this young man holds, it’s too hard not to see. Last year, he was only able to play in 5 games due to an injury he sustained that cut his season short. I certainly don’t think health is a long-term concern because his frame is fantastic and he’s such a good athlete. Allen is thick, able to take hits as well as deal them out, and you can tell hits the weight room on the regular. There are some guys who just attended the NFL Combine who would kill for the type of frame Allen has. The best part, he’s still a High School player. In those 5 games, Allen put up a total of 9 TDs. 7 through the air and 2 on the ground. He’s an absolutely dynamic threat with the ball in his hands and puts pressure on the edges of the defense. He’s got an easy going release and doesn’t strain throwing the ball. He’ll stand in the pocket and take a shot while delivering the ball. Most importantly, Allen is really good going off script and making plays when things break down. Allen checks so many boxes of a recruit that you have to take a shot on that it’s not even funny. If you’re a coach playing the lottery, you might as well aim for the ticket with the potential of something to gain.

Matt Hofer Matt Hofer 6'5" | 275 lbs | OL Valparaiso | 2024 State IN – Valparaiso – OL – 6’5″ 275lbs
Hofer is a really lengthy lineman who does a really good job handling the blind side for the QB and everything that comes with it. He played dang near every snap this year for them and having the left side of your line secured has to be the best feeling when it was previously an issue. Hofer is able to go on the move and be lead blocker pulling around the corner just as well as he is coming straight downhill to take whatever block is in-front of him based on alignment. Quite often, he’s able to gain leverage and drive his opponent back with easy. He’s got a strong punch and makes an impact right away. The passing game isn’t bad, but still a work in progress. As a tackle, it’s always a work in progress because you’re the one tested the most. I see him staying on the outside with his length and experience out there. Hofer is the type of recruit who comes in quietly, works hard, and ends up starting sooner than later.

Dylan Duncan Dylan Duncan 5'11" | 255 lbs | OL Indianapolis Lutheran | 2024 State IN – Indianapolis Lutheran – OL/DL – 5’11” 255lbs
Duncan is the type of player who makes the engine run. A team has to operate as one and Duncan is a perfect example of a guy who makes that happen. He’s a high-motor, high-effort guy who will go 40-yards downfield just to make a block when the rest of the lineman aren’t pushing downfield like he is. Duncan is the lineman you never have to worry about telling to play through the whistle. If he puts his guy down, he’ll go look for more work. Whoever is in the opposing color is a target for him. His technique is still developing, but definitely improving and a guy who puts the work in behind the scenes. As he develops psychically, it’s only going to help round out his game and make him more consistent and dominant. I see him staying at Guard on either side at the next level because of his ability to get underneath pads and level guys while on the move. Duncan is going to be a heck of a find for a program who needs help on the interior of their line.

Kaden Hurst Kaden Hurst 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR North Side | 2024 State IN – North Side – WR – 6’1″ 195lbs
Hurst could very well be the next WR to take off and become the next big name in the Fort Wayne area. His ability is completely untapped, yet you can see the flashes on the field. His ball skills are elite and he’s able to adjust to just about any ball in the air and make a fantastic grab. While he’s able to do those contested catches, he’s able to create separation with his routes and get open picking up some YAC. He’s got a decent frame, but is still growing and putting the weight room work in. He’s also been at a bunch of camps already this winter. Most importantly, he’s been working with a route running specialist and his route tree right now compared to even just a few months ago is so much more improved. Last year, he put up just 418-yards and 5 TDs but it’s the way he progressed and his natural talents that have some schools intrigued already. Hurst is someone who not only could really blow up this fall, but could be a huge chess piece for the offense to move around and just let eat.
