Continue ReadingTo close out the work week, we are going to look at the defensive side of the ball in the class of 2024. Looking first, at the defensive end position in the class of 2024. The state of Texas has no trouble producing talented prospects. Today we are going to look at several prospects to keep an eye at the defensive end position. Several of the names you already know and the rest of the names you will learn about quickly this season.
Colin Simmons Colin Simmons 6'3" | 225 lbs | DL Duncanville | 2024 State TX -Duncanville-6’3” 225-Pounds
Colin Simmons Colin Simmons 6'3" | 225 lbs | DL Duncanville | 2024 State TX has already achieved many accomplishments as an edge rusher for Duncanville. Last season, Simmons helped lead Duncanville to a 15-0 record and a state championship. In the process, he proceeded to break the school sack record with 22.5 sacks and just dominated the 2022 football season. Simmons has impressive speed, and he uses it well. He explodes off of the line of scrimmage and gets into the opposing offensive backfield quickly. Simmons has a motor that does not shut it off and he attempts to be in on every tackle. Simmons has power five starting ability and I look for him to have a strong college career.
Jaxon Lee-Plano-6’3” 210-Pounds
Plano defensive end Jaxon Lee has excellent versatility on the defensive side of the ball. He can move from the edge rush position to the outside linebacker spot and not lose any of his effectiveness. Lee has a number of effective pass rush moves and does a great job of defeating blocks and getting into the offensive backfield. He does an impressive job of being able to help shut down the opponent’s rushing attack. Lee is another impressive 2024 prospect with the talent to play on Saturdays in the future. He has the potential to have a strong season of production for Plano this season.
Dustin Mark-Southlake Carroll-6’3” 235-Pounds
Dustin Mark is a prospect that will open plenty of eyes over the next few months. Last season, he was extremely effective coming off of the edge and getting into the opposing offensive backfield. Mark uses his quickness well to defeat blocks and disrupt the backfield. He can collapse the pocket quickly and force the opposing quarterback into plenty of mistakes. Mark swarms to the ball carrier quickly and he has the potential to make plenty of noise on Friday nights this fall. I look for Mark to be suiting up on Saturdays in the future.
Brock Jackson Brock Jackson 6'4" | 230 lbs | LB Lumberton | 2024 State TX -Lumberton-6’3” 235-Pounds
Brock Jackson Brock Jackson 6'4" | 230 lbs | LB Lumberton | 2024 State TX is another versatile prospect on the defensive side of the ball which the state of Texas has no trouble producing. Jackson is extremely effective getting into the opposing offensive backfield. He comes off of the edge quickly and does a great job of harassing the quarterback. Jackson does a great job of being able to drop back into coverage. He can shift from the defensive end to the linebacker spot with very little difficulty. The Lumberton defense has the potential to be difficult to deal with over the course of the 2023 season.
Loghan Thomas Loghan Thomas 6'4" | 210 lbs | DL Saint Edward | 2024 State OH -Katy Paetow-6’3” 210-Pounds
Loghan Thomas Loghan Thomas 6'4" | 210 lbs | DL Saint Edward | 2024 State OH is an edge rusher that has earned over 20 scholarship offers up to this point. The speed and athletic ability that Thomas has is extremely impressive. He is always around the football and can have an impact on both the run and the pass plays. Thomas is always around the ball carrier, and he will not quit on a play. Thomas is another prospect that has the potential to see plenty of playing time on Saturdays in the future. Look out for the Paetow defense next season, they have the potential to be a dangerous group to contend with.
