What Prospects Will Make A Statement in 2023?
In this article:
S Damani Maxson Damani Maxson 6'1" | 180 lbs | DB Clear Lake | 2024 State TX – 6’1″ 180 / Clear Lake HS — @DamaniMaxson
Maxson is a nightmare for opponents when blitzing from the perimeter, shows great closing speed versus the run, and breaks on the ball well when he’s in coverage. When he’s playing centerfield, does show a lot of range, and the best part about his game – he’s always in position to make a play on the football. A Power 5 program will be getting a safety with star potential when he walks onto campus in 2024.
Currently has offers from Miami, USC, Arizona, LSU, and others.
RB Markell Smith – 6’0″ 180 / Cooper HS — @Markell_Smith6
Junior Season: 1,200 yards and 22 touchdowns
Travel one hour and fifteen minutes northeast of Dallas, and you will find one of the most underrated backs in the DFW area in Markell Smith. He’s not a very well-known prospect, but once his senior season kicks off in August, he will be. He lines up as a slotback for the Class 2A Bulldogs, and has the makings of an outstanding change of pace guy at the next level. A natural runner who can change direction in the blink of an eye, Smith pairs a nice burst with excellent vision, which allow him to break off so many explosive runs on Friday nights. He’s a perfect fit for a zone scheme, and if you’re looking for a true sleeper prospect to get your eyes on this season, take a trip up to Cooper, Texas.
While you’re there, get your eyes on Smith’s main blocker as well – 6’7″ 315 offensive tackle Ross Moody.
Neither player currently has any offers.
ATH Tice Williams Tice Williams 6'3" | 190 lbs | DB Conroe | 2024 State TX – 6’3″ 190 / Conroe HS — @Tice_Williams
Junior Season: 47 tackles, 6 pass breakups, 1 forced fumble (6 games)
Williams is a natural athlete who can line up anywhere on the field. As a safety, he’s a violent hitter who likes to fly sideline-to-sideline and make plays. He also flashes very nice range versus the pass and closes exceptionally well. When he has the ball in his hands as an offensive weapon, he is a threat to take it the distance whenever he touches the ball. He sees the field well and makes guys miss in the open field. Also a star in the classroom, as he currently holds two Ivy League offers.
C Craig Wydra – 6’3″ 290 / El Paso Andress HS — @Wydra77Craig
Wydra is a natural knee-bender that absolutely dominates interior defensive linemen at the point of attack. He consistently shows top-notch footwork and elite ability to get to the second level and create havoc on linebackers. If there’s a better center in west Texas, I haven’t seen him. If you want a hog molly who can easily get 5 yards of push and create nice cutback lanes in the ground game, add Wydra to your board.
Currently has no offers.
