He has the size that can’t be taught and the motor that every coach wants in a big time player, but what makes Andrew Hanchuk Andrew Hanchuk 6’5″ | 230 lbs | DL Berea-Midpark | 2024 State OH elite is his ability to read plays. Standing at 6’5 and a lean 245 lbs, Hanchuk’s a no-brainer when looking for a college defensive end, but he is a lot more than what you see about his stature. Extending his arms on linemen and reading the play as quickly as it comes to him, Hanchuk reacts in position to plug up holes and slow down a running game. Keeping good form and more importantly keeping his head up, Hanchuck sheds blockers as well as anyone in the state. It is easy to see on film how much work Hanchuk puts into his technique and he gets the results to back it up. All over several Mid-American Conference schools already with a couple of offers, Hanchuk is a big target in Ohio and more schools are starting to notice.

Solidifying himself as the anchor on defense that has produced Div. I talent for years, Jordan Pritchard-Sewell Jordan Pritchard-Sewell 6’2″ | 250 lbs | DL Archbishop Hoban | 2024 State OH terrorizes interior defense and produced at a high level in 2022. Garnishing the attention of Mid-American Conference schools, Pritchard-Sewell is built to play ball on Saturdays. Jamming up the line at 6’2 and 261 lbs makes Pritchard-Sewell a versatile option at the next level. Showing quickness and brute strength shooting at the two and three technique, Pritchard-Sewell gets into the back field as quickly as many defensive ends. Making his way to the backfield with his speed and agility, Pritchard-Sewell stays low and can get behind offensive tackles before a quarterback can get set. His impressive 13 sacks last season from the defensive tackle position caused a heavy does of double-teams on a regular basis. Despite the game plan against him, Pritchard-Sewell showed he was still more than capable of splitting a double team to get to the ball carrier. Building off his junior season, if Pritchard-Sewell continues on his current trend then he will gain the attention of bigger Div. I schools with an offer down the road from Kent State already in hand.

Elias Owens Elias Owens 6’4″ | 215 lbs | LB Mansfield | 2024 State OH is a physical football player who does his job well, no matter where that is on a football field. Able to play tight end, defensive end and linebacker, you can’t hammer down one use for Owens because he does all of his assignments with intensity. Making highlight plays as a tight end, Owens can control defenders and seal blocks which is where his physical nature kicks in. Often the tallest player on the field, Owens can see above the offensive line better than a quarterback which allows him to swat down balls at the line. His deep knowledge of the defensive playbooks is on display when he rotates from defensive end and linebacker. Owens can play well in coverage keeping to his man or zone and creates a difficult window for quarterbacks to throw in. A player with a handful of MAC school offers, Owens has a lengthy highlight film because he’s able to play multiple positions which show off his talent well.

Against a gauntlet schedule that has some of the best linemen in the state lining up against him, Troy Regovich Troy Regovich 6’5″ | 250 lbs | DL Saint Edward | 2024 State OH is an aggressive bull-rush defensive linemen that puts his opponents on skates. His arms are his best weapon when he gets full extension to blast opponents back and eat up blocks. Possessing a massive wingspan and standing at 6’5, Regovich has long arms and power built up that make blocking him a true test of an offensive line’s ability. Despite Regovich’s height, he keeps his hips under him giving him power on the ready whether he needs to tackle or take on a double team.
