We will continue our series today with Mississippi State, who signed so many in-state kids, that we are having to break their class into multiple parts. Let’s continue with the incoming Bulldogs in the secondary.
Isaac Smith – Itawamba AHS
The Fulton, MS native would be considered the crown jewel of the class defensively for the Bulldogs. As a high school standout, Smith flashed all over the field on both sides of the ball throughout his career. With massive attrition taking place in the MSU secondary, it is not out of the question to see the incoming Freshman compete from early on. Smith plays with poise well beyond his years and with athleticism that shows easily. Good technique and understanding of the game is apparent. Smith has all the makings of being the next in a long line of NFL bound defensive backs at MSU.
Kelley Jones – Clarksdale
From one of the most talent rich areas of the state, Jones elite length is the first thing noticeable. Height wise, Jones will be among the top of the CB’s around the country, but his arm length is what is most noticeable. A true matchup corner who will win in 1 on 1 battles with boundary receivers. Loose athleticism and a passion for the ball shows. Jones recruitment strikes as one that was extremely underrated. The forthcoming maturation process under Coach Darcel McBath will be fun to watch.
Jaylen Aborom – Oak Grove
When you turn on Oak Grove film you can’t help but get fixated on Aborom as he shows up in every area. Most all projections will have Aborom at the safety position with potential as a free deep safety or a rangey type strong safety. Aborom shows abundant potential in pass defense as well as a willingness to step up and deliver help in the run game. There is a smoothness to the game with Aborom that appears to come on naturally. Another very underrated ATH type that the Bulldogs will be able to mature.
