We continue our breakdown of the 2024 and 2025 classes by looking at the sophomore offensive studs. These 2025 athletes are set up for big junior years at their respective schools.
Jett Tingelhoff Jett Tingelhoff 5'7" | 140 lbs | ATH Elkhorn North | 2025 State NE | ATH | Elkhorn North | 5’7″ 140 lbs
The Elkhorn North Wolves broke out in a big way this season after making the playoffs for the first time in the school’s young history. The Wolves are loaded with talent in their 2024 and 2025 classes and saw several players step up last season. One player in the ’25 cycle that stood out was Jett Tingelhoff Jett Tingelhoff 5'7" | 140 lbs | ATH Elkhorn North | 2025 State NE , who plays a versatile role on offense and plays safety on defense. Jett finished second in receiving yards with 346 yards on 24 receptions and added three receiving touchdowns and will be the team’s returning rushing yards leader with 228 yards and three rushing touchdowns. Jett is a fast twitch player with great field vision and can stop/start on a dime. He has very quick feet that he can use to move defenders when he runs his routes. Tingelhoff has the speed and burst to be a legit deep threat and stretch the field He’s very dangerous when you can get him the ball in open field or with blockers in front of him. Don’t let Jett’s size fool you either, he doesn’t shy away from running between the tackles and fighting through contact for extra yardage. Jett’s versatility and ability to play anywhere on the field (played QB as a freshman) will be a huge asset to the Wolves.
Jackson Carpenter Jackson Carpenter 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Lincoln Southwest | 2025 State NE | WR | Lincoln Southwest | 6’2″ 185 lbs
The wide receiver talent in Nebraska looks very strong in the upcoming classes. 2025 WR Jackson Carpenter Jackson Carpenter 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Lincoln Southwest | 2025 State NE has already started to make a name for himself in the recruiting world with a D1-FCS offer from Northern Iowa. This came after a balling out in his sophomore season that saw Carpenter haul in 14 receptions for 324 yards and four receiving touchdowns. The biggest takeaway from Carpenter’s season was his emergence as a legit deep-threat playmaker with his 23 yards per reception average. Jackson runs a 4.61 40-yard dash but looks like he moves even faster than that on the field. He has great size and length, but his hops (37-inch vertical) and athleticism help maximize his catching window and make him an easy target that you feel comfortable throwing 50/50 balls to. Expect more offers to come Jackson’s way now that he’s on the radar!
Kolbe Volkmer Kolbe Volkmer 6'5" | 220 lbs | QB Pius X | 2025 State NE | QB | Lincoln Pius X | 6’5″ 215 lbs
I got to watch Kolbe perform in person for the first time at the Warren Academy Showcase and left very impressed with the young passer. Right off the bat, Kolbe passes the eye test with his towering 6’5″, 215-lb athletic frame. He can really put some zip onto his passes and has the arm strength to push the ball deep. On multiple occasions during his sophomore season, Kolbe displayed excellent ball placement and the ability to anticipate open receivers. He also showed good pocket awareness and can improvise with his legs to give his receivers time. Now with a full season of varsity experience under his belt, Volkmer is primed to make a big leap in his junior year.
Kalvin Janssen Kalvin Janssen 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL Gretna | 2025 State NE | OL | Gretna | 6’4″ 260 lbs
One thing that is certain about rankings updates is that some way, somehow, I will miss a big name or two. Gretna’s starting right tackle Kalvin Janssen Kalvin Janssen 6'4" | 280 lbs | OL Gretna | 2025 State NE , is one of those names that escaped me in this update. However, now that he’s on my radar, I expect a huge introduction to the rankings. Kalvin is a player already developing into a college-sized lineman and has solid mobility to go with it. He plays fast, physical, and with a violent edge to his game, always looking to finish his blocks with a pancake. He moves very well laterally and can hit like a train on pulling plays. He showed a lot of poise going against some very good edge rushers and D-ends and looked the part of a top-tier tackle prospect.
Mason Guenthner Mason Guenthner 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Millard North | 2025 State NE | WR/ATH | Millard North | 6’0″ 180 lbs
A very under-the-radar prospect that I think could get more recognition is Millard North’s Mason Guenthner Mason Guenthner 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Millard North | 2025 State NE . The Mustang’s offensive system doesn’t do a lot of passing, so Guenthner won’t rack up big numbers, but his talent is evident. I watched Mason compete at the Stock Up showcase and thought he looked impressive in all aspects of the camp. He did very well in his 1v1s and showed the ability to create separation. He displays great footwork and has shown a willingness to block in the run game. Definitely a guy you don’t want to sleep on!
