Continue ReadingAt 5-foot-8 and 193-pounds of muscle, Thompson probably was the most athletically gifted linebacker at the camp – has good speed and is explosive with a super quick twitch frame built for tackling. When tasked with man coverage responsibilities during 1v1, he stays square and patient and very smart. The MVP of the group trusts his eyes and shows no hesitation with good anticipation, he’s a fearless competitor.
Highlights
McKinnon is a tall athletic linebacker with great range and a lean build – looks like he was put on this earth to play the position. Speaking of being put on this planet to play the position, he’s the son of Ronald McKinnon. Pops is a 10-year NFL vet, College Football Hall of Famer and the 1995 Harlon Trophy winner (The D2 equivalent of the Heisman Trophy). The apple didn’t fall far from the tree here, because Rocky showed out. Standing at a verified 5-foot-10 and 157-pounds and running a hand-timed 4.84 in the forty, his athleticism was on full display at the camp. Showed very good in-game speed and patrolled all areas of the field. He was very good in coverage during 1v1’s, he’s extremely versatile. He’s a super-smart, instinctive player and a quick thinker, that’s only going to get better. Buy stock now.
Jake Smith
Jake Smith
The only seventh-grader (class of 2028) to earn a spot on the First Team All-Camp for Linebackers, Smith looks the part with a strong frame with good arm length, at 5-foot-6 and 135-pounds. He’s a fluid and flexible athlete with agile footwork and explosive get-off quickness. Plays fast, showing smooth lateral agility and short-area burst. There’s a lot of potential here for this future Roswell Hornet.
