Here we take a quick look at Oregon's top 10 5A programs by record over the last ½ decade. The stats are somewhat deceptive for schools such as Summit and Bend who have primarily played a 6A schedule up until this past year.

1.Wilsonville 49-7 .875

Head Coach Adam Guenther has done a great job over the years as the Wildcats could be a legit 6A team. They lost this year's state title to Summit by 7 and the 5A championship to Thurston in 2018-19 by 3.

2.Thurston 47-8 .854

The biggest difference between the Colts and Wilsonville is that Thurston has won multiple state titles in the last five years. Give Coach Justin Starck credit, producing multiple D1 athletes such as Jacob Newell (Arizona St) and Grant Starck (Oregon St).

3.West Albany 40-11 .784

The Bulldogs have been one of Oregon's best 5A teams for a long time. Portland St commit [player_tooltip player_id='110176' first='Demarcus' last='Houston'] and returning defensive POY [player_tooltip player_id='278367' first='Brysen' last='Kachel'] are just a few examples of the talent which has come thru.

4.Silverton 41-12 .773

One of the best football communities around. The Foxes have played for two state titles in the last five years, winning one and losing one to Thurston. Former Tualatin coach Dan Lever will take over the program this coming season.

5.Crater 31-16 .659

The Comets have fallen off as of late going 3-6 this past season. That said as they have traditionally been one of the top 5A teams in Oregon, losing the state title game to Thurston in 2019.

6.Summit 29-22 .568

This year's Summit team was one of the best to ever play 5A football in Oregon, winning the state title against Wilsonville 35-28. The records listed here are deceptive with the Storm being a 6A team for a majority of the last ½ decade, actually advancing to the 6A quarterfinals in 2021.

7.Dallas 26-21 .553

Not a lot of people know that the Dragons battle each and every year in the state's toughest 5A conference. It's a one-horse town, much like Silverton, which takes pride in its football.

8.Mt View 23-22 .511

Head Coach Brian Crum has done an outstanding job over the years. The last few seasons haven't been as productive, but numerous division 1 athletes have come out of the Central Oregon school.

9.Bend 24-24 .500

The Lava Bears went 11-2 this past season losing to Wilsonville in the state semifinals. Much like Summit, this list is somewhat deceptive with Bend primarily playing a 6A schedule in previous years.

10.Eagle Point 23-23 .500

RB [player_tooltip player_id='515299' first='David' last='Brown'] led the state in multiple statistical categories, helping Eagle Point go 6-4 in 2022. They have consistently been a .500 team and quietly done some good things down South.
