Demarico Young Demarico Young 5'6" | 155 lbs | RB Sioux City North | 2024 State IA , RB, Sioux City North (2024) Twitter
- Demarico’s rushing ability shows off not only a solid burst from start to finish, but there is also skillsets to like about the vision and instincts this young man runs with out of Sioux City North. Demarico is significantly smaller on the mesuarables scale for the running back position, but the length of his strides really impresses me with said size as he plays way longer than those measurables he actually has.
- He also has a great football IQ, as an instinctive runner that can stretch the length of the field with his swift agility as an East-West running back. Demarico is a great example of a prospect with a high work-ethic that fights for every yard he can get regardless if the first down marker is near or far. Also a high academic prospect with an outstanding 3.8 GPA and looks like a next-level back in these eyes.
Ben Gonzalez Ben Gonzalez 5'7" | 170 lbs | RB West Marshall | 2025 State IA , RB, West Marshall (2025) Twitter
- Watching Ben’s bouncy feet with solid agility in the open field is the first skillset that pops out on tape from this sophomore running back out of West Marshall. He shows off a well-developed first level burst and although not the biggest back on tape at 5’7 175 he shows flashes of the durability he has with his lower body.
- Ben also shows off persistent vision on his sophomore tape and shows the ample awareness to make his cuts early with his fluid instincts to get the separation he needs to stretch the field. I liked the amount yards after contact Ben showed off, as sometimes it seems that he needs to get swarmed by defenders on the second level of the field to fully bring him to the turf. Excited to see Ben’s upside grow and grow with two more football seasons under his belt at West Marshall.
Anthony Courtney, OL/DL Sheldon (2024) Twitter
- Anthony shows off regardless of which line he ends up on, that this kid plays like a man amongst boys on the field. The controlled strength in his hands will tell you that for sure. When this young man pops out as a pull-blocker he comes thru with a plethora of downhill force especially when he punches into the second level.
- Anthony also is very consistent with his pad-level, and that wins him a high amount of pancakes on tape, as he has that finisher type of demeanor I love evaluating from the guard position. He has some upside growing on improving his fire off the snap and his foot speed on his pulls, but this 1st-Team All District top performer with a stout 6’3 290 pound frame has that work ethic I can tell to develop even quicker into next season. Also a 4-sport athlete. Would be a great FCS or NSIC fit in my eyes.
Gentry Dumont, QB, Iowa City Regina (2024) Twitter
- Gentry catches me on tape with the speed of his vision when making his progressions, as I found him moving smoothly thru them but you can tell, can work with speedy ones when he needs do. He also shows off some flourishing ball placement putting the ball on the back shoulder of his wide receiver showing that this kid can operate his accuracy within some tight windows.
- Gentry also has a loaded arm that is built for intermediate and deep routes, as he shows off some polished touch with his precision on a very consistent basis on his junior tape. He also has that grit with his throwing ability, making it an expectation that the ball will be there for the WR and tests the secondary to jump the route, mostly without success. Gentry has that quick release you will want at the next level on short routes too, as a QB that can fire-pop with his strength. I see some even deeper length in Gentry’s arm as we look at this offseason into the 2023 season. He passes my eye test to play at the next level
Evan Beck, OL, Spirit Lake (2024) Twitter
- Our Prep Redzone subscribers should know by now how much I love an OL prospect that has the ability to multi-engage with muliple defenders on one clip, and Spirit Lake center Evan Beck fits that from the start by using his leverage on the first man and that drives into the second level and pancakes a defender with downhill footwork on their rear end. I also liked the awareness Evan showed with his eyes on that first rep as he made sure the first man didn’t have a chance before he went to the second level. If you want a OL prospect at the next-level that will always block until that whistle is blown, Evan certainly fits that bill.
- This young man owns his leverage to the T, as he consistently gets his hands inside on both sides of the line, and takes the defender for a ride like a merry-go-around at the fair. Evan is another prospect on this list that has additional length to see how much he can stretch as you see it easily when he’s on the defensive line. Evan to me looks like a future offensive linemen in the Missouri Valley, as golly if you could add some frame to this kid he will likely become even more physically imposing than he is right now.
Kannon Bork Kannon Bork 6'2" | 215 lbs | TE Bishop Heelan Catholic | 2024 State IA , WR/TE, Bishop Heelan (2024) Twitter
- Kannon shows off that twitchy athletic ability I love seeing off the start of his route as you can tell early that this kid plays his heart out on every play he takes as he has that demeanor seen even when he finishes his routes. He also has a quick trigger within his instincts, as when his vision shows out with the ball is coming his way he has a very swift body turn to engage quickly. Kannon is also very patient on waiting for his blockers and shows off a quick lined burst on a short field situation.
- With the catch raidus I saw from Kannon, it sure seems like his body stretches out much longer than 6’2-as Kannon’s wingspan has to be closer to 6’4+. It takes an army to tackle this young man as Kannon is durable as heck for 6’2 200 pounds and the way he has tacklers bounce off him show off a bigger size that what he’s given. Looking to see an exciting 2023 summer camp season and fall season for Kannon, as Bishop Heelan has a plethora of weapons to stretch the field.
