We dive back into our hub states to take a look at which prospects stood out in Session I. This list was dominated by the fellas in the trenches, but we also have plenty of scholarship level football talent on this list from the LB and QB positions. Time to dive in the water!
Peder Haugo Peder Haugo 6'2" | 205 lbs | LB Fargo North | 2024 State ND , LB/ATH, Fargo North (2024) Twitter
- Talk about a linebacker with a tip-top motor, as Peder also has a ton of jolt off the snap to fire at the ball carrier very quickly.
- Peder can easily be defined as a linebacker that can carry his significant range from sideline to sideline with an elevated physicality level that shows some great durability shedding off blockers
- He also shows off some intruging development with his read steps with his football IQ, I believe he has more development brewing on this once he gets into camp this summer and into football season. I expect Peder to be one of those “blow up” prospects with plenty of versatility to put his name on a bigger map at prospect camps this summer.
Cruz Soulek Cruz Soulek 6'3" | 200 lbs | QB Chamberlain | 2024 State , QB, Chamberlain (2024) Twitter
- Cruz is a QB prospect in the Dakotas I cannot wait to hopefully this summer after missing out on his junior season due to injury. The 6’4 200 pound shows off a well-polished pass-thrower that has some great looking touch on intermediate and deep routes.
- He also showed promise in 2021 with his instincts, as he went thru his progressions with a smooth poise and should the awareness gene to buy himself more time. He also shows off that gritty ball-thrower that will test his arm and trust with his WR into some extremely tight windows.
- What also comes off impressive on tape with Cruz that I am most looking forward to watch is how much has his mobility transitioned? I like the agility skillset he brings to the table to get out of a jam quick and use his legs but will be curious on what percentage of that mobility gets used from him entering this summer and especially the 2023 season, as Cruz looks like a next-level prospect in my eyes with a strong senior season coming soon for the Cubs.
Dalton Reiff Dalton Reiff 6'4" | 235 lbs | DL Chester Area | 2024 State SD , DL, Chester Area (2024) Twitter
- Some subscribers might remember Dalton from our Prep Redzone Dakotas Showcase All-Camp Team this winter at the Presentation Dome in Aberdeen, where he showed off how smooth his athletic ability is in his 6’4 240 pound frame by running a 4.97 40 yard dash as an example of that.
- I like the skillsets Dalton has with his hands from the defensive end position, as he shows a quick trigger getting off his blocks and superb vision finding the ball carrier while using the long reach he has in his plethora. As well as when you look at his stance, that to me looks like a future college football player in my eyes.
- Dalton brings a lot of feist in every rep I got to catch not just from our Dakota Showcase, but from his tape last season as this young man has a rock solid running motor and has that knockback physicality you want at the next level. I expect this top 40 prospect in the Dakotas to have muliple scholarship-level college footbal suitors by the end of the summer.
Johnny Skyberg Johnny Skyberg DB Sioux Falls Christian | 2024 State SD , DB, Sioux Falls Christian (2024) Twitter
- Regardless of where this young man is on the field, he has such impressive instincts regardless of in pass coverage or stopping the run showing off ample physicality in both areas of coverage.
- Johnny also has that flyer mentality and is a sideline to sideline defensive back prospect that excels with a significant accelerator always to the ball. You know this young man is making a difference defensively when you see three turnovers inside the first 50 seconds of his clips of his junior tape.
- Johnny is that is a top 50 overall prospect, but is still in my eyes under the radar as an athlete I look forward to seeing more what he can do at prospect camps this summer from hopefully from both sides of the ball although I believe his next level fit positions out at safety.
Peyton Hora Peyton Hora 5'11" | 255 lbs | OL Chamberlain | 2024 State SD , DL/OL, Chamberlain (2024) Twitter
- You can tell very early within Peyton’s tape that this young man from a first look evaluation comes off as a striker that is ready and built for contact, as he starts off his tape with a quick and elusive punch taking his man into nearly the other side of the line. His stance and release also shows off one of the most feisty nose tackles I have seen from this Dakotas 2024 class that is built and ready for action.
- I could tell by that second play on tape that Peyton’s next-level fit might be built for the defensive line, however he does show off some damaging leverage with his early pad-level and just sinks the D-Linemen so off balance that he ties up their feet so they don’t have a second chance on any rep-love how Peyton consistently sells the angle block.
- The biggest development for Peyton is jacking up his physicality when he’s pounding his defender to the turf, as if this kid can create a swifter finish it will help his development in the long run. Regardless, this kid certainly has a future playing the game of football on Saturdays.
Juven Hudson Juven Hudson ATH Watertown | 2024 State SD , RB, Watertown (2024) Twitter
- Holy smokes, does Juven have a swift release with his burst in his plethora of early on tape. He also runs with a HUGE chip on his shoulder as that contact level he makes with his defender hits extremely hard and allow his durability to just bounce off defenders for yards and yards after contact.
- You truly don’t see the full-on burst that Juven has until you reach about the 45 second mark of his tape, when he’s able to break into the open field which is when you see the sub 4.5 speed this young man has in his plethora. This kid has so much potential in the backfield, it’s crazy in my eyes.
- A development that Juven can work on this offseason is within his balance and vision. We’ve already noted a few times that this young man has the speed no doubt about it, but if he can grow his body control with his balance just a little bit it’s going to turn several of those 5-10 yard plays into touchdowns, as I believe Juven has excellent stamina in his 5’10 170 pound body that can stretch the field at the next-level. Also, growing on his patience will help as well.
