Today, let’s look at some players we haven’t talked much about. These guys are some studs who need recognition.
Preston Gage Smith, OL/DL, Grenada
This big boy is super strong. He is a guy who can play offensive lineman and defensive lineman. Smith also can move fairly well. I like the way he gets himself going when he is playing in the trenches. He is also not a very nice guy. Smith looks for contact. He has some nice size standing 6-foot-3, 240-pounds. He has the skills to be a division one player. Smith is going to attend a few camps this summer to get his name out.
Kyron Williams, OL, Clarksdale
Williams is a very polished offensive lineman. He can fit very well in an offense that loves to run the ball heavy. Williams is a big boy who knows how to get his weight moving forward. He also can pull and get his body down the line. Williams is a heavy load in the trenches. He is also a mean fellow. Williams needs to hit a few camps this summer to show off his pass blocking ability. He comes from Clarksdale, the legendary Mississippi Delta town. He definitely has what it takes to play on the next level.
Detrick Munford Detrick Munford 6'3" | 225 lbs | DL Amanda Elzy | 2024 State MS , DL, Amanda Elzy
Munford is a tall big guy with some long arms. He keeps pockets disturbed. He is always in a quarterback’s face trying to make a play. Munford plays for Amanda Elzy. That’s the second team from the Mississippi Delta mentioned within this article. The Delta has the tendency to be overlooked. Guys like Munford are gems in the Delta. I would love to see him play a lot more. I do think he is a next level player. He has long arms, with some good size. He is a 6-foot-3, 240-pound guy that can move. Munford also is an honor student. He is somebody to keep up with.
DJ Miller, DL, Louisville
Miller is a stud who played with some of the best lineman in the state. Miller held his own every time he stepped on the field. This young man is a beast. He is so strong. It is very hard to move Miller in the trenches. He comes from the same Miller family who produced the famous, Dicenzo Miller, the legendary Mississippi State running back. Miller gets around very well on the defensive line. He is going to have a very big 2023 season. Remember his name.
