With the 2023 national signing day in the books, there are still a significant number of high school seniors who still need homes at the next level. Even though their reasons may vary, many unsigned players deserve opportunities to continue their athletic careers.
This article will briefly examine five unsigned players from the 2023 class who are worthy of being added to a college roster, especially for in-state schools.
Frey is easily one of the bigger sleeper receivers in the state. He does a fantastic job at pushing upfield immediately out of his releases and after he makes the catch. He is a solid route runner with impressive speed and extremely reliable hands. His playmaking abilities resulted in him finishing his senior season as the second-leading receiver with the fourth-most receptions on a state-winning team. Frey is an under-the-radar prospect with the uncanny ability to come in clutch whenever he is called on.
Highlights
Sauer being unsigned is one of the more surprising available quarterbacks in the class. He has all of the desired intangibles for a sought-after quarterback prospect, especially at the D2 level. He has great size, a strong arm, and impressive athleticism. His decision-making and accurate ball placement earned him a spot in the record books for his school. Sauer is a player who can come into a program and immediately compete for the job, making his availability a head-scratcher.

Solomon Arnds-Volcin
Solomon Arnds-Volcin
Arnds-Volcin was a significant difference-maker as a running back and outside linebacker for his team this past season. He brings the ideal attitude and energy to the field, giving him an upside as a locker room addition. He makes up for what he may lack in height with toughness and his overall work ethic. His low center of gravity and physical running style makes him difficult to bring down upon first contact. He is a two-way player with elite speed and a nose for the football, giving him upside as a potential addition for special teams. Arnds-Volcin is a competitor who deserves to be on a college roster.
Rearick’s situation was the perfect storm of unfortunate circumstances that undoubtedly resulted in him being a player without an offer. He has excellent size and an outstanding arm with impressive accuracy. His athleticism makes him a mobile quarterback who can extend plays with his legs or become a power runner when needed. Rearick is a player who belongs on the stage at the next level, but sitting behind one of the top junior quarterbacks in the country limited his ability to showcase his talents. Rearick’s situation puts him in a category of players who could benefit from a year at the junior college level and come out with an extraordinary story as a JUCO product.
