Here is a look at five of the top unsigned 2023 players in the state of Alabama.
Kaleb Jackson
Kaleb Jackson
Jackson had a big year for the Bucs that led to him being named All-South Metro Defensive Player of the Year, First-Team All-Area, and First-Team All-State LB. He plays in one of the toughest regions in the country for high school football and came to play every week leading the Hoover defense. Jackson is very strong at the point of attack and displays natural instincts at the linebacker position. He shows the ability to be effective in coverage and play in the box at a high level. His offer list includes Birmingham Southern, Miles College, the University of Charleston, and Shorter University.
Keshun Johnson
Keshun Johnson
Keshun Johnson played a big role in massive turnaround for the MGM Vikings this year. He had 800 yards rushing and added 350 yards receiving to go for over 1,000 all-purpose yards helping his team to the AHSAA Class 7A playoffs. Johnson’s tape highlights his balance and body control as well as his ability to make you miss in a phone booth. Vikings coach Zach Golson, a former state champion offensive coordinator, did a really nice job of utilizing him on the perimeter as well in the passing game. This one will make a program very happy at the next level. Currently lists one offer from West Alabama.
Klark Cleveland
Klark Cleveland
“One of the best I have ever coached.” That is how Auburn HS Defensive Coordinator Scott Goolsby summed up Klark Cleveland. The highly productive linebacker for the 7A state runner-up Tigers has to be one of the best still available in Alabama. Turning on the tape you can see immediately the initial quickness he has and his ability to use his hands in shedding blocks. He is a solid tackler that displays the motor and awareness to be an asset at the next level. Cleveland’s play this year landed him a spot in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game and to be selected as an All-State LB. Currently, he only holds a PWO opportunity from North Alabama, but that will change soon.
Korbyn Williams
Korbyn Williams
This 1st Team All-County prospect has attributes that can’t be coached. This includes a listed 4.45 40 time, 7.09 60m track time, and 6.32m long jump. When the ball is in the air Korbyn Williams shows a natural ability to adjust to the football and strong hands. He is very twitchy and consistently is able to gain yards after contact due to his elusiveness and speed. The state champion currently has offers from West Alabama, Shorter, and Charleston.
Henry Boehme
Henry Boehme
If you like long, athletic tackles, Henry Boehme should be on your board. At 6’6 265 this ’23 unsigned senior shows great bend and a long reach. If you are an outside zone team that is looking to have your bigs running, he is a perfect fit. Boehme’s tape also give a good look at his ability to redirect and be powerful at the point of attack. A lineman with this frame and a 3.4 GPA to go with it will not remain unsigned long. Currently Henry has offers from Birmingham Southern, Anderson, Millsaps, Hampton-Sydney, Delta State, and West Alabama. As far as PWO opportunities he lists UAB, Samford, Furman, Grambling, Penn State, Arkansas State, Georgia Tech, and Wake Forest.
