The DRSportz team hosted another successful seven-on-seven tournament in the state of Florida which featured talented teams from multiple regions and states such as Texas and Georgia. The showcase provides a perfect opportunity for scouts to get eyes on a lot of kids and watch them compete against high-skill level prospects from different areas. It's what separates most from those who can handle the moment. For today, various teams met to compete in Davenport where recruits had the chance to showcase their skillsets during the offseason. Prep Redzone scout Andrew Johnson was in attendance to take in all the action. Here is a short list of some of the many quarterback standouts from Day One of the tournament.

Trey Heddon | 2024 | Tampa Catholic | @treyhedden3

6'3, 210-pounds

Heddon has a smooth release and understands how to throw his receivers open. It had to be nice throwing to some of the more talented recruits in the state including three-stars TJ Moore Jr. and [player_tooltip player_id='381588' first='Nate' last='Johnson']. The 6'3, 210-pound junior excels in the deep pass game but has the ability to change velocity on his throws to find soft spots in the zone. Holds offers from Toledo, USF, and FAMU.

Luke Kromenhoek | 2024 | Benedictine Military | @LukeKromenhoek

6'4, 195-pounds

Kromenhoek's recruitment has skyrocketed since last seeing him perform during the previous DRSportz tournament in Davenport a year ago. The Florida State commit is the complete package with the right tangibles and mentality to grow in the position. Can complete every throw on the route tree with good arm strength and accuracy. Had 6 touchdown passes on Day One.

Luke Knight | 2024 | Merritt Island | @lukeknightqb

5'10, 178-pounds

Knight is the ultimate leader in this type of environment that sees plays before they develop. Knows where his got-to guys are and finds them with a quick but precise release. The former state champion continues to develop and will look to increase his recruitment heading into his senior year.

Locklan Hewlett | 2025 | St. Augustine | @LocklanHewlett

6'1, 175-pounds

Hewlett was delivering dimes during the one game I watched and it was against a talented defensive squad. He holds multiple Power 5 offers including Liberty, Wake Forest, and UCF. Excited to watch him perform during the elimination period tomorrow.

Jackson Jensen | 2024 | Wharton | @JacksonJensenQB

6'3,192-pounds

Have already watched Jensen compete against multiple top talented recruits during a Bus Tour around the southeast. He continues to develop his game and is an overall solid product at the position. Plays on Prime Truth who has many speedy and elusive receivers. Holds offers from Arizona, Penn State, and Ole Miss.

Ty Hawkins | 2025 | SA Johnson | @TyHawkins2025

6'0, 185-pounds

Hawkins was in a different situation than most quarterbacks featured in the tournament in that he traveled from Texas to compete against some of the best. He had to bring his game while staying composed as the leader and did well in both aspects. Hawkins has the measurables, passing the eye test surely. Good throwing mechanics and threw his receivers open on various routes. Holds offers from Texas Tech, Texas State, and SMU.

Trey Whirley | 2024 | Clearwater | @WhirleyTrey

6'1, 190-pounds

Whirley plays on one of the more talented teams in Ri5e Maroon but made a name for himself today by throwing accurate deep and intermediate balls in both games I watched. Has good decision-making skills with decent arm strength. Whirley and his squad will be favorites to make it to the championship on Sunday. Holds an offer from Tennessee Martin University.
