Community Film Room, Episode 23

Our January rankings update pinpointed 508 worthy players across four classes. For a variety of evidence, our team decided that each of those 500-plus were worthy of a coveted spot in our rankings.   But we'd be naive to think we've evaluated everyone or didn't miss a few along the way.    PRZ South Carolina is constantly looking at as many of the 10,000 prep football players in the SCHSL and SCISA ranks as possible. Now, a little over a year from its inception, the Community Film Room is back.   Each week, we'll break down five currently unranked players from across the state to let you see what we're seeing. The series will lead right into the next rankings update in May and beyond.   In Episode 23, we're looking at four rising seniors and a rising sophomore who jump way the heck off the film room cutting floor.   [player_tooltip player_id='492672' first='Tyler' last='Jones'] DB, Dutch Fork   Jones has a year of prep ball left, and even though he started as a free safety for the high-profile Dutch Fork squad as a junior, we won't predict if he'll stay there or move up to linebacker for his senior season. Either way, his potential for increasing upon his 60 tackles is quite high next fall. Jones has shown a proficiency in protecting against the pass and run, and he's no stranger to busting up special teams plays, as well. With a good chance at another 15-game season, Jones's position with us will likely only continue to rise.    Quadir Scott ATH, Socastee   The number of programs who might want Scott to play some college ball for them down the line increased plenty last fall - despite the fact he was playing out of position. That's what shifting to QB on the fly and running away with the opportunity will do. While Scott brought his elite athleticism to the backfield, no one who was tapped into Socastee's offense could forget that he's a sub-4.6 receiver by nature who is about to return to his old spot. Scott (pictured) is a pretty good quarterback. He's even better on the outside, taking advantage of his knowledge of the offense.    Dominic Morgan LB, Midland Valley   Morgan will enter his senior season with nine double-digit tackle games already on his resume and needing as few as three contests to eclipse 200 career tackles in a Midland Valley uniform. He's able to do this on such a consistent basis because of two factors. First, he moves extremely well both sideline-to-sideline (he's rarely lining up in the middle, mind you). And, secondly, he's got an impressive-looking reach that allows him plenty of first contact before ball carriers drop their pads.    Terry Radford DL, Chester   Radford's production are sort of laughable for a kid who still has three years left on the high school scene. The 240-pound defensive end was everywhere for Chester last fall, racking up 83 total tackles and a mind-numbing 27 tackles for loss. Radford is so aggressive from his end spot that he's often pushing his way into position before the quarterback hands off to a ball carrier. Blocking him isn't easy, nor is it common. Radford is a probably not even a couple years away from developing Power Five athletic capabilities, and - more importantly - offers.    [player_tooltip player_id='594497' first='James' last='Maxwell'] RB, James Island   October 21, 2022. That's the date we knew the kid known as “Junior” might just be a baller. While he already had a couple of 100-yard rushing performances to his credit, his three offensive touches in this game were dynamite. He rushed twice - a 64-yard score and a 61-yard touchdown. He also caught a screen pass and took it 51 yards for a third touchdown. Maxwell is an expert as keeping his already low-to-the-ground frame even lower and uses excellent cuts and vision to do the rest.
