We looked at Class A position groups to watch; now, let's venture into Class B, where I have three positional units that look strong as we head into 2023.

Skutt Running Backs

Last season saw the Skutt offense experience some high-and-lows as they found their footing. Next season should be different as they'll feature one of the top RB duos in Class B. Juniors [player_tooltip player_id='250612' first='Anthony' last='Heithoff'] and [player_tooltip player_id='250610' first='Colin' last='Pike'] will be back to ground-and-pound opposing defenses. Anthony is a shifty back with a lot of patience behind the line of scrimmage. He has great vision and lets his blocks get et up. Anthony is also a threat as a receiving back and a returner. Colin is an explosive back that does a great job finding his gap and firing through it like a rocket. He has solid acceleration and can turn it up a notch when he gets past the third level. Both backs are very well-rounded, with great balance, strong, excellent vision, and versatility. This duo could help lead the Sky Hawks to a deep November run.

Elkhorn North Defensive Line

As I kept up with Elkhorn North throughout the season and noticed they kept surpassing expectations week after week, I wondered what was driving their quick rise. I picked up on one of the big reasons when I watched them in person and saw how good they were in the trenches. Although the defensive line will lose [player_tooltip player_id='330899' first='Cole' last='Sharar'], they will retain key pieces like [player_tooltip player_id='630093' first='Sam' last='Thomas'], [player_tooltip player_id='250705' first='Brock' last='Marler'], and [player_tooltip player_id='319202' first='Ben' last='Madrigal']. Sam is a player that is starting to make noise in the recruiting world with an offer from Northern Iowa. He is vicious on both offensive and defensive lines, using his length and power to dominate opponents. He does a great job winning the edge immediately and shutting down runs going in his direction. Brock is a player that I think should be getting more recognition. He is quick with his first step and can use his hands to break off from blocks. [player_tooltip player_id='319202' first='Ben' last='Madrigal'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1573587' first='Jayden' last='Kohnekamp'] are two 2025s that are sleepers to step up in a big way next season.

Blair Wide Receivers

My prediction is for the Blair Bears to yield one of the top passing attacks next season. They will have one of the top 2024 QBs in [player_tooltip player_id='169937' first='Bode' last='Soukup'], back under center, and he'll have a lot of talent to throw to. [player_tooltip player_id='169935' first='J'shawn' last='Unger'] is a tall, athletic pass catcher that fits the TE/WR hybrid role. He can use his big frame to make tough catches and has the speed to take the top off of a defense. Unfortunately for coaches hoping to scoop up the Blair pass-catcher, he is committed to Nebraska for baseball. [player_tooltip player_id='250688' first='Brady' last='Brown'] has been making plays since his sophomore year. Brady is more of a technician that can carve defenses up with his route running and footwork. He has a great football IQ and knows how to exploit soft spots in defenses. [player_tooltip player_id='414921' first='Nelson' last='Kosch'] is a 2025 player that could step up as a WR3.
