Continue ReadingThis class is also loaded with some great talent at wide receiver. Today we are going to check out the players we have on our radar. We want to look at what makes these players so great. Let’s look at the small things these guys are already doing that sets them apart.
Omari Johnson, Wesson
Johnson is a very explosive receiver who does a lot of different things well. Johnson is very fast. That allows him to have an extra step. He’s already a 4.4 guy who has a very quick first step. Johnson has some work to do on his route running. However, he uses that quick step to help him win a lot of battles. He had to play running back a few games this season. During those games he was able to show off his vision. Johnson did great as a return specialist this year as well. That showed off how good of vision this young man has. Be sure to keep up with him.
Xavier McDonald, Morton
McDonald is a very good route runner. That is what helps him succeed. He has been a good route runner for quite some time. McDonald will only continue to get faster also. As he gets faster he is going to become more explosive. He has great hands. He also has very good ball skills. McDonald is going to be playing 7v7 with Mesh Academy. He already has spent a lot of time developing his game with their coaches. I’m excited to watch how he has developed thus far.
Jase Matthews, Greene County
Matthews is a very athletic wide receiver. He also gets up to make big dunks in basketball. That is a great way for him to show his athleticism during the off-season. I think Matthews is a decent route runner. However, I do think he has some polishing up to do with his cuts. Matthews has some good hands. He is also a competitor with a lot of heart. He just needs to make sure he gets his route running down pat. Matthews is a division on prospect. He needs to make sure he can match-up with other prospects his age across the nation.
Gavin Howard, Holmes
Howard is a guy who knows how to make a play. He isn’t as tall as the other guys we mentioned, but he plays with a lot of heart. Howard a good season, and he his team plays in a competitive division. That shows the talent he has. Howard is very elusive. He also has some good vision. That is how he made a name for himself. Howard is a guy you can get the ball to fast, and he will make something happen with his feet. I think that he is a division one prospect. It may sound cliche, but he too needs to work on his routes. He needs to work on his speed as well.
