Which dual-threat quarterbacks are bound for breakout seasons next fall? Let’s take a look…
Ryan Hall – North Gwinnett
The North Gwinnett Bulldogs will head into the 2023 season next fall under new leadership as coach Bill Stewart left the program for an analyst job. Fortunately, whoever takes over as the head man at North Gwinnett will have an experienced, dual-threat QB running the show in rising junior, Ryan Hall. Playing against talented defenses on a weekly basis last year in 7A, Hall showed the ability to run through defenses on a consistent basis as a sophomore in 2021. It’s not easy to make plays at such a young age against quality Gwinnett County defenses, but Hall made it happen. His mobility obviously stands out, but he does have a live arm to go with his impressive feet. He throws well on the run, and he hasn’t even scratched the surface of his potential. He still has seven full months to continue building strength in his arm and develop overall as a passer. If he does, he could be bound for a giant junior season not only on the ground, but through the air as well. Look for Hall to be one of the most improved passers in Gwinnett County for the 2023 season as he prepares for an important junior season.
Chistian Langford – East Coweta
One of the more underrated quarterbacks across the state, it’s only a matter of time before Langford starts to become a household name across the state. As a sophomore last year, the 6-foot-2 190-pounder had a promising season both on the ground and through the air, showing D1 potential on a weekly basis. As a passer, Langford threw for 2,066 yards and 28 touchdowns. It was a learning year for Langford, and if he continues to work hard and develop as a passer, has a chance to really shine as a junior in 2023. He shows good footwork in the pocket, a strong arm, and the ability to push the ball down the field. Look for his passing numbers to increase in a big way this year. As a runner, he took off for 452 yards and three scores. He’s a threat to take off for a big gain whenever he sees some space, and that makes him one of the more dynamic quarterbacks in the area. His ability to run, his overall arm talent, and overall potential make him an easy candidate as a breakout QB in 2023.
Banks Booth – Pinewood Christian Academy
Don’t let the small-school fool you, here. Banks Booth can play. A dual-threat quarterback and multi-sport star out of Pinewood Christian Academy, Booth is an athletic signal-caller who knows to take off and pick up big yards on the ground. A reliable passer who threw the ball better and better as his sophomore season went on, Booth threw for 280+ yards in his final three games of the season, throwing for over 300 yards in his final two games. He reads the field well, makes good decisions, and became a better passer throughout the season. He ended the season with 2,582 passing yards and 24 touchdowns through the air. Of course, he was excellent with his feet, rushing for 713 yards and 12 touchdowns. He’s a shifty player and will likely grow as a passer over the next few months as he gets closer to his junior season. He may play at a smaller school, but make no mistake, the 5-foot-11 175-pounder is one of the top dual-threat QBs in Georgia in the 2025 class.
