Lusk is in line to see a big uptick in carries as the Tigers will lose top running back rusher which Lusk split carries with this year. Blake Barnett Blake Barnett 6’2″ | 210 lbs | QB Erie | 2024 State CO was this year’s leading rusher but I feel that with his vision and speed, he will be able to open up this offense and carry some of the load. Lusk shows soft hands when catching the ball out of the backfield and then makes things happen with his legs. Lusk had 751 yards rushing on the year and was able to punch the ball in a total of 12 times on the ground and through the air.
Gabriel McFarland
Gabriel McFarland
McFarland is an aggressive runner that can run through the arm tackles and can pick up extra yardage if you don’t wrap up. McFarland also shows the ability to outrun the defenders, against Coronado he had a 66 yard rushing touchdown where he got a sweep and took it to the house just outrunning everyone in the process. McFarland also does his best Derrick Henry impressions as he will try to stiff arm defenders as hard as he can, showing the physicality and not wanting to go down. McFarland will have competition in the backfield as the leading rusher from last year will return. McFarland will not make it easy on the coaching staff as he had half the carries but almost matched the production of his teammate.
Hall will be one of the few kids for the Wolves that figures to be thrust into the spotlight. Hall should see an uptick in touches but will have to be more productive with the added touches. Hall was able to punch it in 5 times this past season on the ground and with big key figures in the passing game leaving he should be able to get it going in the rushing game. Hall is good at letting the play develop and then turning up field when he finds the open hole. With a lot of unknowns Hall can be that X-factor for his team next year and has a lot of upside going into this year.
Carlos Cardoza
Carlos Cardoza
Cardoza is a shifty player that has the speed to bust the seams wide open. Cardoza didn’t have gaudy numbers as he only had 342 rushing yards but when you watch the tape he has the ability to have those explosive games. Against Niwot high school Cardoza turned the burners on for an 89 yard rushing touchdown and you can see the speed on full display as he pulls away from defenders and nobody is even close to touching him. He shows the same explosiveness in the passing game with soft hands and being able to get in and out of cuts. Cardoza can contribute in the return game as well as he was able to house call, one of his few kick returns.
Graham will have an opportunity to take over as lead back if he is able to show that explosive ability that he has in the offseason. Graham is a back that follows his blocks but is able to bounce it to the outside and pick up yards with his speed. Graham shows good vision and is able to get skinny in the hole. Graham is a two-way player and can make some plays on special teams as well, recording a blocked punt. The Gators will lose top ball carrier from last season and Graham figures to be next in line, I think he will have the ability to make the biggest jump from this year as he finished the year with 298 yards rushing.
