SJCA has been producing multiple next level athletes as of late, and it looks like it will continue with the next group of incoming seniors. The Lancers are going to have standout senior leadership and talent at DB, DL, RB, OL, and QB. That is where you will find the athletes covered in today’s article as well. SJCA is home to one of the best DBs in the state for the Class of 2024. That is where we start…
The 6’1″ 175 lbs cornerback has long been in the running for the top CB in WI. He spent 2022 proving he can lock down receivers on his island after allowing just two receptions through 12 games, and broke up four passes. Jamire possesses quick feet, a smooth backpedal, and can change direction on a dime. Davis is quick to diagnose plays, and his acceleration to go from his backpedal to attacking downhill stands out from the rest at his position. Jamire is also blessed with the speed and agility to run with receivers down the field, and through the breaks of routes. The cherry on top is that Davis isn’t afraid to get involved against the run, and making tackles overall. He can be counted on to bring plays to an end when they are in his area.
Highlights
An athlete that is going to be in position to put up huge numbers next fall is RB Jayden Gordon Jayden Gordon 5’10” | 165 lbs | RB St Joseph Catholic Academy | 2024 State WI . The 5’10” 170 lbs Conference Offensive Player of the Year is a game breaker. He is a mismatch nightmare out in space. Jayden’s vision, agility, and top end speed make him difficult to contain once he hits the open field. The playmaker also possesses next level acceleration that shines when he finds the lane he wants to attack. The highlight reels are going to be must watch this fall.
Dylan is a recruit that is in position to make a big rise up the rankings this fall. He certainly looks the part a 6’6″ 265 lbs with long arms to match. Dylan plays with decently light feet that help him reach his opponent or get to the second level. The OT also consistently gets his hands into proper inside position on his opponent. I’m looking to see his lower body technique take the next step forward. See him play with a wider base, which should help him play with a lower pad level and be able to generate more power. If he can improve there his whole game will improve, and so will his rank and recruitment. Excited to follow Dylan this year.
The 5’11” 160 lbs junior lines up at QB, but fits more in the ATH category. Eric is a solid athlete, and does a big part of his damage to defenses on the ground. Kenesie has solid vision, and short area agility that allows him to juke and cut away from defenders. The three sport athlete also has the long speed to turn green grass into big plays. His athleticism is next level quality, and his intelligence/decision making has also led to big plays. Eric knows how to use the play design to his advantage when the play breaks down. He also has experience at DB. There are a lot of roles that Eric can step into at the next level. RB/DB/WR could all be an option.
The 6’1″ 230 lbs junior athlete plays OL and DL for SJCA. Despite being undersized for both, Adrian has found ways to make an impact and win reps. His game revolves around athleticism, mobility, and quickness. On offense, those traits allow him to put himself in position to have leverage and be between the defender and ball carrier. On defense, Adrian uses that quickness to get out of his stance, close the distance between him and the OL, clear the hands of the OL, and slide past to make the tackle.
