Although he is labeled as an athlete there needs to be a separate category for defensive athletes as Meikhi Cuttino Meikhi Cuttino 6'3" | 200 lbs | ATH Paramus Catholic | 2024 State NJ fits the mold of the new-age defensive player. With the ability to rush the passer and play in the box, Cuttino is one the best defensive players in the state who isn’t talked about enough.
Standing at 6’3 180 pounds Cuttino has the frame to grow into a solid hybrid player at linebacker and safety. He has excellent closing speed which helps him play well in space and be disruptive as a Blitzer, along with tremendous length that helps him be a sure one-on-one tackler in the open field and also allows him to fight through blockers to make tackles.
He becomes a top 5 player in the class due to his ability to still tap into other parts of his game as a defender, specifically, his play in coverage. He’s not asked to be player that makes plays in coverage as he’s asked more to spot drop. It would be judicious to try him covering wide receivers and tight ends in man coverage. In addition, seeing how he does as a deep safety, and how he moves would suggest this be an easy adjustment for him. This move would only make him a more marketable and dangerous player, with his best football ahead of him in college.
Highlights
Mangan is more of your traditional linebacker as he’s one the best one on one tacklers in the hole in this class. He shows good ability to read and react on run plays, consistently attacking downhill. He does great work as a blitzer showing the ability to consistently affect the quarterback.
While I come away impressed with his tackling I would like to see more evidence of how he plays in space and how he covers. With the way he moves, this shouldn’t be a problem, he can take his game to another level by covering tight ends and backs out of the backfield.
As he makes the switch from St.Peter’s to Irvington. He’s sure to have every opportunity to improve his overall game and get more looks from Power 5 colleges. As he holds one offer from Sacred Heart.

Ace Lumpris Ace Lumpris 6'0" | 200 lbs | WR Lawrenceville | 2024 State NJ is one the most athletically gifted players at his position in his class, however, he is another under-the-radar prospect who can compete with some of the top recruits in the state.
In addition, Ace has only been playing football for a full year as he’s also a standout lacrosse player. One thing that cannot be denied is his uncanny athleticism. He has unrivaled footspeed can make things happen with the ball in his hands and can get even better in that aspect.
At this point, Ace should have his goals set to dominate this season. While he can get open consistently from the slot I need that same energy on the outside, as the mark of a true number-one wide receiver. This is severe nit-picking, but Ace can take his game to another especially if he gets hyper-focused on destroying defensive backs with not only athletism, but route running as well.
Whoever is advising Ace this summer I hope there encouraging Ace to hit some high-profile camps to truly push himself against the best competition an see where he really stacks up against the state’s best.
Freddie is on a team full of wide receiver talent and to be honest, there could be a case made that he’s the best out of all of them. However, it’s tough to get the spotlight when there are two Power 5 players ahead of you and there are only so many passes to go around.
Lavan can do it all from making tough catches in traffic, high-pointing footballs, to taking screen passes to the house. It’s confounding to me how a talent like this goes unnoticed, but this why PrepRedzone exists to bring to the light talents like Freddie. Expect Lavan to be a household name by next season’s end.
The best defensive back no one knows. Jeremiah Pruitt Jeremiah Pruitt 5'11" | 180 lbs | DB Tom's River North | 2024 State NJ will be poised to be a name people know throughout the state. Pruitt as a defensive back has some of the best movement skills you’ll see in this class and has freaky athletism especially when it comes to his ball skills. Pruitt snagged six interceptions out of those six, three of them went for defensive scores last season and proved that he is a defensive playmaker on the back end.
Pruitt’s coaches need to advise him to put in a strong camp schedule, so we can see his skills against the best competition in the state.
