Diving into some of the signal caller newcomers that were added to our updated 2023 rankings, here are three next level players that should get a shot at the college level and who are coming off successful high school careers. This is a deep and talented group overall within this 2023 class and these three are more than worthy of entering our rankings.
Beltran is a well built, strong kid that has lower body strength, can push the ball downfield and excels throwing the intermediate balls and moving safeties with his eyes. Throwing for over 250 yards per game during his Senior season and over 25 TD’s, he put up impressive numbers during his high school career and can make an impact at the next level. On film, he flicks the ball out with a quick release and shows a strong arm on the run when outside the pocket and is able to hit both in-breaking and outbreaking throws, always throwing pass catchers open and fitting the ball into small windows. On 25+ yard throws, he shows nice spin on the ball with a tight spiral and accuracy while flashing a high football IQ and processing and not afraid to take what is given underneath. In our latest 2023 rankings, he slides in just our top 20, and deservingly so.
Edwards is another true dual-threat signal caller that can do a lot of damage with his legs and in the ground game with elite explosion through the first level, contact balance in traffic and third level breakaway speed in the clear. Having a quick release and not afraid to make complex throws both on the run and in the pocket, he is a risk taker in the pocket that makes plays when things break down and has a natural feel for always gaining the extra yards. A no brainer D-III+ college caliber quarterback, he is very deserving to enter into our updated rankings and will be a steal for any college program. Through out his prep career, he was one of the more under-recruited and overlooked quarterbacks in the state and should have a very productive college career.
Hale is currently committed to Allan Hancock College and will try the junior college ranks before transferring to a four year institution. The 6 foot Senior is a big armed kid that can stretch the field and fit the ball into tight windows while putting nice velocity under his throws to allow his receivers to run underneath. A true dual-threat kid, he is dangerous when scrambling outside the pocket and and tuck it and run while flashing open field speed and has the ability to make defenders miss in space with some nice twitch and a burst. A very high IQ kid, he moves quickly through progressions and can throw on the run while feeling pressure both on the outside and up the middle. He will continue to work on his throwing motion and only continue to develop into an impact four year college player.
