With that being said, I felt that these two should have not only been covered awhile ago by myself, but highly ranked in the state. I do my best to hit every area of the state and bounce around, but these 2 young men deserve every second of coverage which is why I put them separate in today’s piece. With that, I’m also adding their soon-to-be updated state rankings.
Ryan Brotherton Ryan Brotherton 6'4" | 195 lbs | ATH East Central | 2024 State IN – East Central – RB/WR – 6’4″ 190lbs
Brotherton had a phenomenal year as he helped guide East Central to their State Title. He was one of the big offensive pieces and his versatility really took some weight off others. His 700 rushing yards looked really nice next to his 860 receiving yards. 14 total TDs wrapped up his dominant year. Over 1500 scrimmage yards while moving around the field and positions is what you want to see. His 6’4″ frame is legit and he can absolutely fly. He takes long strides and that only helps him eat into the cushion right away. He can, and he will, blow right by the defense. His elite speed combined with his lengthy frame has made him a deep-threat and Redzone cheat code which is why he plucked so many TDs out of the sky. I also love the fact that he’s not just a good blocker, but an aggressive one. He’s willing to be violent while blocking and leading the way. The effort is phenomenal and it’s guys like him who make teams go. I’d be willing to bet he could even be an elite gunner on Special Teams. His length combined with raw strength and speed off the ball is just different. Brotherton is an elite prospect that is gaining some traction, and a bunch more should be coming down the pipe because his upside is off the charts.

Xavier Williams Xavier Williams 5'11" | 215 lbs | RB Lake Central | 2024 State IN – Lake Central – RB – 6’0″ 225lbs
Williams wears #26 and I have to guess his inspiration is 1 Saquon Barkley, who he has moments where he looks eerily similar to on the football field. Elite agility, the ability to fight and run through tackles, cutback without losing any speed/momentum, and the vision to be able to find those lanes. Williams is an elite athlete who explodes when the ball is snapped. I also love that he’s a patient runner. He’s smart enough to set up behind blocks, let them develop, and shoot right through them. His timing is just a natural thing and very rarely does he overshoot a hole. He’s also really well-built, thick, and got a workhorse back type of frame. I’m not sure how it took me so long to find him, but it’s quite embarrassing on my end. His 1475 rushing yards and 15 TDs on the year give you good reason to be excited heading into the 2023 season. Can he hit 2,000 next year? He’s got the ability to do so. The talent on this young man is so enticing that private planes from Tuscaloosa should show up if they knew what’s good for them. Remember the name, Xavier Williams Xavier Williams 5'11" | 215 lbs | RB Lake Central | 2024 State IN because he’s not going anywhere but your TV screens on Saturdays.
