Which freshmen are seeing their recruitment take off after a big first season in 2022?
Let’s take a look…
Jardon Stringer Jardon Stringer WR GA – ATH – Lagrange
One of the top young players in all of West Georgia, Stringer is a shifty, speedy athlete who has sky-high potential in all three phases of the game. The 6-foot-2 165-pounder is coming off an impressive freshman season where he showed big-play ability on a consistent basis. At wide receiver, his speed was on full display. He also proved to be an excellent route-runner for his age with the ability to leap up and snatch the football at it’s highest point. He has great feet, can change directions on a dime, and knows how to create separation. He’s a threat to score anytime he has the ball and it was easy to see his D1 potential throughout the 2022 season. He’s also an exceptional returner on special teams who can fly past defenders with ease. Stringer earned his first D1 offer recently from Pittsburgh and could see more come his way over the next several months.
Heze Kent – TE – Brunswick
One of the top young players in Southeast Georgia, Kent is a promising pass-catching tight end with plenty of size already at 6-foot-5 250-pounds. Just a freshman, Kent is put together physically and already looks like an easy D1 prospect. His recruitment is starting to really take off, and this weekend he earned offers from Georgia and Florida State with more likely on the way. He has arguably has the best hands on the team, a fantastic feat considering all the talent on the Brunswick roster. A two-sport star who also starts on the basketball team, Kent has tremendous athleticism and ball skills which allowed him to see the field as a freshman last year for one of the top teams in the area. Towards the end of the season he became a really physical blocker and that was a big part of our region championship win over Effingham. Has great intangibles and has become a leader in the locker room even with only being a freshman.
Camron Brooks – Thomas County Central
An explosive EDGe defender with a great motor, Brooks played more like an upperclassman than a freshman last year in 2022. He has plenty of size and an impressive frame for his age at 6-foot-4 225-pounds. He dissects plays quickly, sheds blocks consistently, and consistently finds his way into the backfield. He can wreck any particular play before it starts and showed easy D1 potential as a freshman. Now, the offers are starting to fly in, with one coming from the in-state Georgia Bulldogs this week. A program that has a great eye for defenders, Brooks showed that he’s one of the very best not only in South Georgia, but across the state in the 2026 class. He made 27 tackles last season with four sacks and one forced fumble. He hasn’t scratched the surface of his potential and should see more offers come his way shortly.
