As my collogue Al Pops would say, this list has some freaks that came out to play at the Willow Hill Dome in Northbrook, and each one of them was more than deserving of being on our First Team based on the size and skillsets that showed out with during our Saturday night camp. How many times have I had a list of 8th graders who already have the skillsets to play college football? In my two years of scouting the Midwest for Prep Redzone Next, that answer is none until today’s evaluations of these certified studs. Even three of out of four of them I gave out Division I grades when their high school football careers are wrapped up, and the other has the excellent upside to get there too. Enough babbling from me; it is time to meet our 1st All-Camp Team for WRs!
Levi certainly left his mark with my late eye test especially during 1v1s, as I came away very impressed with his long catch radius within his well-built 5’11 frame and he showed just how physical he was within his route-running to very consistently reel in those high-traffic catches. I also enjoyed watching Levi’s fluidity you could quickly see for the duration of his routes as from start to finish, you could easily lock and see just how much football IQ this young man really has within his growing plethora of skillsets. Every ball I watched this young man catch had that “what’s next” instinct engraved with it, as I have a gut feel this young man will certainly cash in with how many yards he can get after the catch based on what these eyes saw on Saturday night. You know a Next prospect has some potential next-level skillsets when after the event I feel the absolute need to text our Prep Redzone Wisconsin scout to get him our high school radar early for his upcoming freshmen year next year. Levi looks to be a WR prospect destined in the future to play on Saturdays.

I had the luxury to watch Josiah show off his craft on back to back weekends, last weekend in Minnesota, and this weekend at our Prep Redzone Next Midwest Camp and from weekend to weekend, this dude did not miss a step or seem at all tired from all the reps he’s gotten in the last two weeks. The overall balance Josiah has with his football IQ and change of direction mixed together at a high level on Saturday night in Northbrook. Josiah from my eyes, I thought had the quickest cuts amongst the entire wide receiver group which got him a plethora of separation and showed off his catch radius very well. I’ll say it because I have now evaluated Josiah multiple times already, I think this young man has some of the best hands in the Midwest in the 2027 class and that is from several evaluations from one year ago to today. He also shows bigger game time speed out the gates than any 40 yard dash would show you and I believe this young buck is destined to play FBS football in the next several years. Stay tuned.

There was not a bigger WR prospect that passed my eye test from when he walked in to the finish of our Prep Redzone Next Midwest Camp than Evanston’s Quentin Burrell Quentin Burrell 6’2″ | 180 lbs | WR Chicago Mount Carmel | 2027 IL , who took home honors for WR MVP on Saturday night at the Willow Hill Dome. At a legit 6’2 175 pounds, while I was standing at the 40 yard dash testing station, I saw this young man run a 4.81 40 yard dash and for that size, that is not a WR prospect you want to face with that size in any route-running scenario. I also enjoyed watching Quentin’s extremely well-balanced change of direction in 1v1s as he had that tie-up ability to put the defensive back on stilts on every route I got to watch on Saturday. He also set the tone early on his routes with just how twitchy this young man is from the jump which allowed him to setup, and then burst with all that blossoming speed we mentioned earlier. Grabbing a look at Quentin’s tape this young man is a man amongst boys at the 8th grade level and in my eyes has a very high ceiling to a probable prospect that you will be seeing playing Division I football on Saturdays. Excited to watch how much Quentin turns up his skillsets throughout his high school career.

Talk about another WR prospect that had that “man amongst boys” mentality at our Prep Redzone Midwest Camp in the Chicagoland, as we meet Detroit (MI) WR Anthony Cartwright III Anthony Cartwright III 6’4″ | 200 lbs | TE Detroit Country Day | 2027 State MI . This young man had the WIDEST catch radius I have ever seen at the multiple PRZ Next Camps I have scouted in the last two years, and showed all of that 6’3 190 pound frame in his wheelhouse. Anthony also showed off very well-developed hands and had that premiere vision to make adjustments on the fly to give himself the best possible angle to make a catch, especially with his route-running on his deep routes. If I was a quarterback throwing to Anthony on a daily basis, I would feel extremely safe around the edges of the football field getting that ball high in the air and depending on his big time vertical to get me a touchdown. You just don’t see pass-catchers with that size and skillsets at the junior high level as Anthony is another one on this list I have a Division FBS grade on going into high school.
