The 2022 High School football season has now wrapped up. Throughout this season I've seen a ton of phenomenal athletes from the city of Houston. In this article, I will be covering standout defensive linemen that I have seen this season from Houston.

Cy-Ranch Mustangs [player_tooltip player_id='259528' first='Ashton' last='Porter'] Sr 6'3 255 lbs

[player_tooltip player_id='259528' first='Ashton' last='Porter'] is a slim and quick defensive end with tons of power to boot. Ashton couldn't be stopped one drive Ashton was being blocked by two offensive linemen and one tight-end and they still had trouble containing him. Ashton proved that he is well deserving of being ranked top 50 in the state of Texas and a candidate for the Under-Armour All-American Game. When I interviewed [player_tooltip player_id='259528' first='Ashton' last='Porter'] it was clear that he has a lot of pride in his teammates and love for his family.

Paetow Panthers [player_tooltip player_id='60868' first='David' last='Hicks'] Jr DE Sr 6'4 270 lbs

David Hick is the ideal size for a defensive end and he is quick off the ball, agile, versatile, and possesses great athletic ability. David has a rather unique high school football career playing for three different high schools; Morton Ranch High School, Allen High School, and finished at Paetow High School. However, no matter where David suits up he is still a perfect defensive end. David is great at attacking the edge, using his power and speed to break through any obstacle in his way to make the play. David's strength is incredible every play he would drive the offensive linemen back into the backfield with minimum effort and chase down the running back or pressure the quarterback making him rush a lot of passes. David recently played in both The Under-Armour All-American Game and The Polynesian All-American Game.

2022 Stats: 10 Games 40 total tackles and 5 sacks

Friendswood Mustangs [player_tooltip player_id='258694' first='Braylan' last='Shelby'] EDGE Sr 6'5 235 lbs

1st team all-district [player_tooltip player_id='258694' first='Braylan' last='Shelby'] is not an athlete to be messed with. Braylan is just a solid, massive and tough athlete I would not want to be blocking or running the ball near him. Braylan would bulldoze anyone in front of him and deflect any pass going over him. One play from last season where Braylan drove the blocker into the quarterback was a sight to behold. With Braylan's size, physique, and agility he could do practically anything and everything on the field.

Atascocita Eagles [player_tooltip player_id='259529' first='Samu' last='Taumanupepe'] DT, NG Sr 6'3 380 lbs

[player_tooltip player_id='259529' first='Samu' last='Taumanupepe'] is an incredible defensive tackle and one of the biggest athletes in Texas. Samu is a massive size lineman his stamina is a bit lacking, but he never gives up and will always give it 100% every play. Every time I've seen Samu play offensive linemen could barely contain him even when they double-team him they were not able to slow Samu down. Despite his size, Samu is light on his feet and uses his quickness to get through the offensive line to get into the backfield.

C.E. Kings Panthers [player_tooltip player_id='136139' first='Dylan' last='Spencer'] DE, MLB Sr 6'5

[player_tooltip player_id='136139' first='Dylan' last='Spencer'] is tall and slender very appropriately built for a defensive end. Dylan is one of the most athletic defensive linemen in Texas. Dylan was fast and quick off the ball and always made his way into the backfield. This season Dylan lived in the backfield making a ton of sacks and stopping running backs in their tracks.
