The 2022 High School football season has now wrapped up. Throughout this season I've seen a ton of phenomenal athletes from the city of Houston. In this article, I will be covering standout athletes from the class of 2024 that I have seen this season from Houston.

Cy-Fair Bobcats #3 [player_tooltip player_id='147432' first='Trey' last='Owens'] QB 6'2 190 lbs

[player_tooltip player_id='147432' first='Trey' last='Owens'] is a spectacular quarterback. In the one game, I saw of his all of Trey's passes were spot-on with a nice perfect spiral. Trey can accurately throw short, mid, and long ranges. The only passes of Trey's that weren't accurate were dropped by the wide receiver or knocked down by the defender. If Trey improved his speed, running, and scrambling skills he will become one of the best quarterbacks not only in his own division but in Houston.

The Woodlands Highlanders #7 [player_tooltip player_id='146594' first='Mabrey' last='Mettauer'] QB 6'6 225 lbs

Woodlands High School has a great offensive secondary and quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='146594' first='Mabrey' last='Mettauer'] can utilize all of them almost perfectly. Mabrey has textbook form and technique with a great arm, but not only that he is quick and decisive under pressure. Mabrey can avoid tackles, scramble well, and wasn't afraid to run the ball. Mabrey recently committed to The University of Wisconsin at the end of his junior year.

2022 Stats: 13 Games
Passing: 157/236 passes, 2,620 passing yards for 32 touchdown passes. Rushing: 84 carries, 615 rushing yards, and 7 rushing touchdowns.

Shadow Creek Sharks [player_tooltip player_id='149649' first='Maurice' last='Williams'] II 6'1 190 lbs

Maurice William II is one of the best linebackers in not only Houston but in Texas. Maurice is great at attacking he has impeccable tackling form and is great at coverage during pass plays. Maurice has deflected numerous passes throughout the season and once a wide receiver caught a pass he stop them dead in their tracks. Maurice throughout this season has made a ton of tackles, caught interceptions, causing and recovered fumbles and I'm looking forward to seeing his development in his senior season.

2022 Stats: 11 Games 43 total tackles, 2 interceptions, 3 fumble recoveries, 1 fumble caused

Manvel Mavericks [player_tooltip player_id='269992' first='Kaleb' last='Blanton'] OLB 6'2 210 lbs

[player_tooltip player_id='269992' first='Kaleb' last='Blanton'] is an ideal outside linebacker. Kaleb is very aggressive and quick being able to blitz and attack holes tackling running backs or quarterbacks. Kaleb is a hard hitter and an efficient tackler with great tackling form. Kaleb has made the most tackles I have seen this season always being in the action. Kaleb recently was ranked as a 3-star athlete and it was deserved the way he was playing this season. Kaleb is going to be a major threat throughout his senior season.

College Offers: The University of Arizona, The University of Pennsylvania, Marshall University and Alabama State University

2022 Stats: 12 Games 106 total tackles, 2 sacks, 1 INT, and 1 fumble cause

Clear Lake Falcons [player_tooltip player_id='413079' first='Hunter' last='Moddon'] 6'1 175 lbs

If I were to describe [player_tooltip player_id='413079' first='Hunter' last='Moddon'] I would say he is quick, fast, speedy, and swift. Hunter plays on both sides of the ball on offense he is a wide receiver and on defense a cornerback. With Hunter's speed, he dominates at both positions being faster than everyone on the opposing team. When Hunter lined up as a cornerback he had great coverage sticking close to his man and not allowing any space. If the opportunity presented itself Hunter would get in front of an incoming pass and intercept for many yards gained. Hunter is a terrifying athlete I'm expecting a lot from him in his upcoming senior season.
