This class is very loaded with talent all around the board. There are some major power five prospects as well as others in this class. Let’s take a look. Some of these guys have been working very hard this off-season.
Dillon Alfred, Gautier, WR
Alfred has been getting a lot of attention this off-season. He received an offer from Ole Miss after the season. That opened a lot of eyes, making people know his name. Alfred is a guy that has plenty of time to grow. He has great speed and knows how to get open. He also has some good hands, and he knows how to attack the football. Alfred played a major role for his team last season. He was one of the leading receivers who helped their team quite a bit. He always made big plays when they needed him to. Alfred definitely is a power five talent.
Cortez Thomas, DB, Holmes Co Central
Thomas is a stud who also gets the job done every time he touches the field. This kid has a lot of confidence to be so young. I first got my eyes on him at AJ Brown’s 7v7 tournament in Starkville, MS this past summer. This kid knows how to use his size to assist him. He was a major force in their passing defense last season. Thomas does not shy away from competition. He was selected as a Tom Lemming All American. That’s very big coming from their school. Keep his name in your memory. He will blow up this year.
Darrell Smith, ATH, Picayune
Mark my words. Smith is going to have a very big name this season. He is already receiving offers. He will definitely see a lot more offers come this season. Smith was a big help to the Picayune Squad last season. He was a guy that kept attention from Dowdell and Davis. This season him and Davis will be the top dogs. I love the way he plays the game with a very high motor. He is always looking to make a big play.
Bryce Vaughn, OL, Nettleton
This is a guy that everybody needs to be familiar with. He is a big boy who handles his business in the trenches. He stands around 6-foot-6. Yes he us a guy to know. He is also very fundamental with his blocking. He doesn’t miss a lot of assignments when he is on the field. Vaughn was a major part of their freshman Phenom quarterback having a great season. This kid plays like an upperclassmen on the offensive line. I believe he is definitely a power five prospect.
