With the class of 2023 signing day fast approaching we are seeing college coaches beating the recruiting trail path work to get a jump on the class of 2025 even as they are working on 2024 up next. Today I take a look at five rising 2025 players in the state who have recently picked up D1 offers and will continue to this spring and summer.

I've written about Boyd before and his breakout season in helping the Lions win the Class 3 state championship. The transfer from East St. Louis made the most of his opportunity throwing for 1,500 yards and 28 touchdowns. Colleges have taken notice and Boyd landed his first D1 offer from Texas A&M this week, followed by West Virginia offering the sophomore talent. Look for more schools join in and offer him soon. His accuracy, pocket presence and football IQ make him a prime D1 target.

The speedy sophomore cornerback did a great job as part of a talented Lions defensive backfield in locking down one side using his speed, athleticism and skills to help form a championship defense. Parker had picked up his first D1 offer in December of 2022 following the season from Iowa State but has had a flurry of offers come in from the likes of Indiana, Arkansas, Boston College and Louisville, with recent offers coming in the last week from Wisconsin and West Virginia.

[player_tooltip player_id='188605' first='Tyron' last='Steed'] | DB | 6'0" 175 | Cardinal Ritter |
Steed was a real playmaker for the Lions his sophomore season and caught my attention early in the year with his ability to cover and physicality he brought to his play. Good ball skills and can cover a lot of ground both in pass defense and against the run. He picked up his first offer from Ole Miss during the end of the season but has also recently started gaining steam in recruiting with a number of offers coming in from Louisville, Boston College, Marshall and West Virginia. He'll continue to rise on the recruiting map for D1 schools.

[player_tooltip player_id='285142' first='Jason' last='King'] | LB | 6'1" 205 | De Smet |
This physical linebacker prospect landed his first offer right before Christmas from UNLV and has seen his recruitment pick up this week with offers from Marshall and Illinois State. King showed flashes as a freshman of what was to come with his nose for the ball and ability to make things happen at the point of attack. He had a breakout year this past season with his 90 tackles, 2 sacks, 2 picks and a fumble recovery. He has good speed and overall athleticism that colleges are starting to catch on to.

This big-time defensive line prospect started as a freshman for the Rams and looked the part of a future D1 player. He continued to elevate his play as a sophomore and just landed his first D1 offer from Marshall University. He has great size, agility and quickness to go along with a very good motor and aggressive play. He gets off the ball well and requires double and triple team blocks by opponent. Lucas led the Rams in sacks with 8 to go along with his 89 total tackles and and 2 fumble recoveries. He's a player that will continue to blow up this spring and summer.
