There has been a long line of great athletes that come out of Macon, Mississippi. Let’s check out this squad.
Kamario Taylor, QB, 2025
Taylor is an absolute stud. He is following in the same shoes of his uncle, Omarr Connor. Taylor can make any throw on the field. He also can get the job done with his legs. However, we won’t be able to see him run the ball a lot. This kid is a very good athlete that knows how to stand back in the pocket. He does not need to use his legs much. His arms gets the job done. That’s what he is known for. Making good passes from the pocket. He is a very exciting player to go and watch. Be sure to keep up with him.
Dequadrion Welch Dequadrion Welch 5'10" | 160 lbs | WR Noxubee County | 2024 State MS , WR, 2024
Welch is a player that who knows how to get open. He has good hands and is a good athlete. He did a great job in their state championship game this past December. Welch has been receiving interests from a few colleges. I’m pretty sure this off-season he is going to be working in the lab a lot. Welch was one of their leading receivers. If he can continue to better his routes, the better he will be. He is a decent route runner, but can be better. He also needs to work on his speed. I’m sure these are things he is already working on.
Bennet Payton, LB, 2026
Payton is a guy that caught my attention early last season. His defensive coordinator was constantly letting me know he is a guy to know. He is already 6-foot-3 and 175 pounds. He has a lot of physical growing to do. Payton also needs to continue to get better reading plays. He is also decent in coverage. He is only a freshman therefore the ceiling is very high for this young man. Payton does not have any offers yet. Soon as college coaches get hip to this young man, he will see his recruiting process take off. He definitely has what it takes to make it on the next level.
Martavious Wicks, RB/FS, 2024
This is another guy who is known to step up big for Noxubee. He is a very shifty guy who helps them out on offense and defense. I expect to see him playing a offense more next year. He plays the secondary like a baseball player playing center field. That’s what I like to see when I watch a free safety. I like to see guys who love to make plays. The secondary is a place for swagger and confidence. Wicks has both. He is a guy we need to keep up with.
